Assalaamulekum,

Here is a website ( see above) with leading scientists discussing the concpet of God,( some theists, some atheists, some agnostics)
Please check out Michael Behe video series on evolution ( you will have to search for it) and his ID movement, which tries to refute conventional darwinism.

Its about time our Ulema started to understand these issues, as scientology is one reason for athiesm in the west. I spoke to one da'ee who said that the Ulema are not even to scratch with newtonian physics let alone quantum physics!

On another topic evolution itself doesn't really even contradict Islamic teachings,

I think its a shame that today people in the dawah are trying to refute things such as the big bang, or evolution. And I have noticed Muslims have a shallow understanding of these concepts and a very simple view( "you tryna say we come from apes mate!".) often quoting works from Harun Yahya, though he isn't a scientist and much of his work is easily reffutable, though he has valid points.

This is not to say that those theories are factual, as science doesn't deal with facts rather predictions. But it still shouldn't stop us from delving into Allah's creation i.e how he did it. Often I find in the theology and science debate, Christians have put so much hard work and effort in it, aswell as Jews, yet we Muslims have done nothing to further the debate, despite our religion not contardicting anything science has to offer ( unlike all other religions)

Allah sends water down from the clouds but even that has a process evolving complex chemistry. But all this does not invalidate that Allah did it, likewise we shouldn;t we scared to accept the big bang as in fact that may strengthen our beleif that the universe had a beginning ( though admitedly the theory is changing e.g some are now thinking that our universe is one of many trillions or an infinite array, they think here could of been many big bangs sprining out universes from some kind of vacuum, rather like bubbles coming from a hot bubble bath, which I think is a beautiful theory)

green doesnt attempt to refute evolution in its entirety but entertains the possibility of evolution ie the creation in stages. he does well to explain the difference between adaption and evolution though these are terms used interchangeably they do not mean the same thing.

the objection to evolution as he said quite rightly is that life did not evolve by accident. there may have been evolution but it was by design and not down to chance.

the lecture 'on origin monkey or man' did have a couple of errors namely the title. a more apt title would be 'on origin ape or man'

the other error, half an hour into his lecture was bang out of order even for a joke!
