imho, it's the kind of hatred where you don't want to kill or hurt the person, rather you want to change the bad thing in them (which you hate) to what you believe is good, Allahu a'lam.

i've actually used that phrase many times when giving da'wah to sisters about tawhid and al-wala' wal-bara'! may Allah bless the shaykh

i assume you're talking about sh salih al-fawzan? then yes, some idiots do make takfir of him. the man in the clip, however, is sh abdul aziz al-fawzan.

Excellent clip, jazakh-Allah khair...this has helped me understand the issue.

I intend to read that book on the Kalamullah website about al-wala wa al-baraa as well...I have a few books in queue, but it's high up on the list insha-Allah.

Baarak Allahu feek akhi,

On a related note: Hate the evil individual or only hate his evil? (http://forums.islamicawakening.com/showthread.php?t=15475)

Instead of calling my and your true brothers in Islam idiots find out why they make takfir on him and after that you still dont agree then i suggest you make dua to Allah swt.

do you know why they do takfir on them? and can you explain their stance?

Al Walaa wal Baraa is an issue that needs a lot more clarification. Most Western Muslims seem to go to one of two extremes in the matter (most being too lenient). There isn't a lot of work about it in English.

I've always wondered why wala and bara have been translated as love and hate when it seems more appopriate to translate it as allegience and disassociation?

I would like to read what the salaf said about wala and bara because in our times it seems that wala and bara are made upon rediculuous things e.g. madhkhalis and their blood thirsty opposites.

if anyone has material from those before us ono this topic i'd appreciate it.

jazakumAllahu khair

I was going to put it up akhee Abu Zubair but my internet was slow. Here is probably the best English book on al-wala wal bara.
