Assalamu alaykum
while I was reading tafsir of surat al Waqi'ah, and came to these ayat:
äóÍúäõ ÎóáóÞúäóÇßõãú ÝóáóæúáóÇ ÊõÕóÏøöÞõæäó (57) ÃóÝóÑóÃóíúÊõãú ãóÇ Êõãúäõæäó (58) ÃóÃóäúÊõãú ÊóÎúáõÞõæäóåõ Ãóãú äóÍúäõ ÇáúÎóÇáöÞõæäó (59) äóÍúäõ ÞóÏøóÑúäóÇ Èóíúäóßõãõ ÇáúãóæúÊó æóãóÇ äóÍúäõ ÈöãóÓúÈõæÞöíäó (60) Úóáóì Ãóäú äõÈóÏøöáó ÃóãúËóÇáóßõãú æóäõäúÔöÆóßõãú Ýöí ãóÇ áóÇ ÊóÚúáóãõæäó (61) æóáóÞóÏú ÚóáöãúÊõãõ ÇáäøóÔúÃóÉó ÇáúÃõæáóì ÝóáóæúáóÇ ÊóÐóßøóÑõæäó (62) [ÇáæÇÞÚÉ/57-62]
57. We created you, then why do you believe not?
58. Then tell Me (about) the human semen that you emit.
59. Is it you who create it (i.e. make this semen into a perfect human being), or are We the Creator?
60. We have decreed death to you all, and We are not unable,
61. To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not.
62. And indeed, you have already known the first form of creation (i.e. the creation of Adam), why then do you not remember or take heed?
the issue of tawhid rububiyah and the Arab mushrikeen came to my mind.
As some of you know, sufis deny that the Mushrikeen believed in Allah's rububiyyah, and that He was their creator.
If the mushrikeen of Quraish didn't believe in Allah and that He was the creator, there would be no meaning to the ayat the prove resurrection by mentioning Allah's creation of man from the begining, because they don't believe that He created them from the first place.
another ayah on that (surat Ya sin) :
Ãóæóáóãú íóÑó ÇáúÅöäúÓóÇäõ ÃóäøóÇ ÎóáóÞúäóÇåõ ãöäú äõØúÝóÉò ÝóÅöÐóÇ åõæó ÎóÕöíãñ ãõÈöíäñ (77) æóÖóÑóÈó áóäóÇ ãóËóáðÇ æóäóÓöíó ÎóáúÞóåõ ÞóÇáó ãóäú íõÍúíöí ÇáúÚöÙóÇãó æóåöíó Ñóãöíãñ (78) Þõáú íõÍúíöíåóÇ ÇáøóÐöí ÃóäúÔóÃóåóÇ Ãóæøóáó ãóÑøóÉò æóåõæó Èößõáøö ÎóáúÞò Úóáöíãñ (79)
Hilali-Khan translation:
77. Does not man see that We have created him from Nutfah (mixed male and female discharge semen drops). Yet behold! He (stands forth) as an open opponent.
78. And he puts forth for Us a parable, and forgets his own creation. He says: "Who will give life to these bones when they have rotted away and became dust?"
79. Say: (O Muhammad http://www.al-sunnah.com/call_to_islam/saws.gif) "He will give life to them Who created them for the first time! And He is the All-Knower of every creation!"
There are several more in the Quran.
This is another evidence showing that the Arab mushrikeen believed that Allah was their creator, that is why Allah used this belief of theirs in the proofs for ba'th (resurrection) after death in the Quran.
