View Full Version : Qur'aanic Healing - healing illnesses/injuries through recitation?

I was sitting with my local imam and another local elder from our community in a kitchen upstairs at my local masjid - they were talking about how during Hajj the imam held the elder's injured calf muscle and recited al-fatihah and it healed a long-term muscle injury.
I have not investigated or come across much about "Qur'aanic Healing" and wonder if anybody can shed some light on this from the Qur'aan and Sunnah... is it possible to heal someone's injury or illness by touching/holding the injured body part and then reciting Qur'aan/al-fatihah? Does anybody know any more about this?
The imam is a deobandi (who speaks highly of ibn Abdul-Wahhab, ibn Uthaymeen and bin Baz -Rahimahumullah-).

Surah Al-Fatihah is also known as Ash-Shifa and Ar-Ruqyah and there is also Hadith of the Sahabi who used Al-Fatihah as a remedy for the tribal chief who was poisoned.

Do you know how they used Al-Fatiha as a remedy for the tribal chief? how did they recite, how many times, etc, etc do you know the fiqh regarding it?
If you can help me get info on these questions I would be most obliged.

From the names of al-Faatihah is ash-Shifaa’ and al-Ruqyah...Reciting al-Faatihah
It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) described Soorat al-Faatihah as a ruqyah, and he approved of the Sahaabi who recited it as a ruqyah for the one who had been stung by a scorpion. Al-Bukhaari (2156) and Muslim (2201).
Ibn al-Qayyim said: There was a time when I fell sick in Makkah, and I could not find a doctor or any medicine, so I treated myself by reciting it. I would take some Zamzam water and recite it over it several times, then drink it. I recovered fully by these means, then I began to do that whenever I felt a lot of pain, and I benefited greatly from it. End quote.
Zaad al-Ma’aad (4/164).It was reported in al-Saheehayn that a group of the Sahaabah (may Allaah be pleased with them) went to a tribe among the Arabs who did not offer them hospitality. Their chief was stung, and they did everything but to no avail. Then they came to that group of Sahaabah (may Allaah be pleased with them) and said, “Is there any raaqi (one who does ruqyah) among you? For our chief have been stung.” They said, “Yes, but you did not offer us hospitality, so we will not do ruqyah for him unless we make a deal.” So they agreed upon a number of sheep, then one of the Sahaabah did ruqyah for him by reciting Soorat al-Faatihah, and he recovered. They gave them what had been agreed upon, then the Sahaabah said to one another, “Let us not do anything until we tell the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).” When they came to Madeenah, they told him about it and he said, “You did the right thing.” Also see the links: here (http://www.islamqa.com/index.php?ref=12627&ln=eng) and here (http://www.islamqa.com/index.php?ref=21383&ln=eng).
