Yeah, I meant the Maktaba - jazakallahu khayran for that link, I actually thought they stopped the 'pre-loaded' Shamela! As a result, I made a friend go through madness just to upload it somewhere but file was too big.

Alhamdulillah I fixed the problem... set your language for all the non-Unicode programs to Arabic (go to Regional and Language Options) & it should display fine insha'Allaah.

I downloaded the torrent for shamela with 5000 books, the 1.7 gig compressed one from the above link.

When extracting on Windows Vista, near the end it gives an error message 'could not create all files, please close all applications restart and try again,' although doing so brings the same error.

The size of the folder (after extraction) is 7.40GB. So I don't know how much did not go through...

Edit: same results when extracting on Win xp on a different computer, so I am assuming it is the file, not the computer...

2. Put them in alphabetical order in their sections
3. All the books in the search screen are also in alphabetical order
4. A section specifically for poetry books
5. A section for 'Islam and Medicine'
6. A section for Economic and Money Research
7. A section for 'Raqy Shar'ee' which I think means 'Shar'ee Opinion'

I gave up trying to download the shamela. I was given this link which was a great alternative masha'Allaah. It has the books in 'shamela format' for those with the program already - you can just download the extra books you need.
