Assalamu alaykum

This is for those both learning, and those who have learned Arabic. When coming across new vocabulary, what did you find was/is the best way to remember it? Flash Cards?

wa’alaikum as-salaam,

Different methods work for different people but personally I feel by far the best method to retain vocabulary is simply by using it.

If the word happens to be a noun, learn its plurals and use them in speech* and writing. If it’s a verb, work out its derivatives and various forms, and then try your best to incorporate them into your usage of the language etc.

* Even if it means speaking to yourself from time to time… as long as the goal is achieved!
