Salaamualaikum,

So I had to reformat my desktop. Silly me I went ahead and did it without creating a back up (although I did save all my files).

Now that it is reformatted, I have lost the default/factory programs that came with it.

Is there any way to get it back? The CD that came with it is only to re-install the operating system.

So yeah, help me please.

Your post is a bit incoherent, but what I think you meant to say is that you have one of those brand-name computers that came with some additional software and you are wondering how you can get those programs again after reinstalling your OS.

First, are you sure that those programs are not on a Vista disk that came with the computer? Check the folders on the disk again. Vista disk that came with my laptop installs the Toshiba bundled software automatically, leaving me to manually delete it afterwards.

Second, many computers today come with a hidden partition that has a ghost of an original system’s partition on it. Check out at boot does it give you a message like: “Press F11 for recovery of operating system” or something like that. Starting the process will return the original OS that computer came with.

Third, additional software that computer came with can often be downloaded from manufacturer’s web site. You may need to provide a serial number of your machine.
