If anyone could help me, it'd be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for the full version of the following story:

Centuries ago, there was a King who captured a Muslim prisoner. The prisoner was sent to 'death row'. Amazingly, there was a free man who offered to take the place of the prisoner for 1 year. It was an understanding between the two men that the prisoner would return after a year had passed. The King decided that if anyone was so foolish as to risk their life without any tangible assurance that the prisoner would return, then they themselves deserved to go on 'death row'. He consented to the exchange. A year later the prisoner returned to take his place once more. The prisoner might have been named something like Sinmara.

Sorry, it was not "centuries ago" but a century ago. So we're looking for a historical story from the last 100 years or so.
