Bismillah

Assalamu 'alaykum

I seem to distinctly remember brother Abu Dharr al-Kashmiri posting the following du'a in Arabic with tashkeel and everything, but I cannot find it.

If anyone knows any search engines for hadith in which the results are shown with tashkeel, please post the link so we can add it to our bookmarks!

Also, if anyone can post this hadith with the tashkeel, that would be very beneficial, barak Allahu feekum

Barak Allahu feek brother Yasir,

Perhaps someone who is well-learned in the Arabic language can solve this problem for me:

In the above du'a that brother Yasir posted, it is mentioned "Fatir as-samaawaati wal-arda"

Shouldn't it be "wal-ardi" with a kasra on the ض ?

Shouldn't it be "wal-ardi" with a kasra on the ض ?You’re right, al-Ardh should be majrur. That’s a typographical error.

The image was taken from www.makedua.com and if you could let them know insha’Allah, I’m sure they would appreciate the correction.

Erm, I don't think thats correct - I think that the text is correct.

If think the ism fa'il (faatir) is acting as a verb here, so as-samaawati and al ardh are its direct objects (maf'oolun bihi) and they are of course mansoob..

Therefore As-samawaati would be like that because its sign of being mansoob is the kasrah (as it is aljam' bi alif wa taa) , and al-ardha would have a kasrah as its sign of being mansoob, as standard.

The long and the short of all the above is that the scanned text is correct - and Allah knows best.

Both cases are jaa'iz as far as I know

Soorah Fatir states:

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ فَاطِرِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ جَاعِلِ الْمَلَائِكَةِ رُسُلاً
[al-'ardh being majroor].

But there are cases where a ism al-faa'il can act as a verb too like you said e.g. in Aal-'Imran:

وَالْكَاظِمِينَ الْغَيْظَ وَالْعَافِينَ عَنِ النَّاسِ
[al-Ghayd being mansoob as its maf'ool bihi]

OK, now I am wondering which of the two this particular narration is....

According to Hisn al-Muslim, which du'a is collected in, it has the al-ardh part as majroor.

To be honest, I think in general that phrase 'Fatir al-Samawaati al-Ardhi' is generally all majroor - I haven't really seen it documented as mansoob, wallahu a'lam!

In the du’aa of Yusuf ‘alaihis salaam, it appears as: فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ .

I had assumed that the words 'samawaat' and 'ard' are mudaf ilayh, so they would be majroor.

As for the example from al-Qur'an which sister Fajr mentioned: ( وَالْكَاظِمِينَ الْغَيْظَ ), that is a different case with a different i'raab I assume. If my memory is correct, there is another example from the Qur'an but I can't quite remember exactly where right now...
