The head of the University of Madina Dr. Saleh Bin Abdullah al-Abood did say about him:

isn't it a wonder then that his two theses, the PhD and masters (the one in question) one, are still used as a reference by scholars today, including sh munajjid? and the scan is from al-yaum newspaper, not the medina uni newsletter. i checked al-youm website, but they do not have archives back then, but i woiuld look at the archives in my uni insha'Allah.

I would just like to add to the statement of brother Abu Maryam and stress that the Ahlus Sunnah of Yemen have also benefitted from Shaikh Shams-udeen al Afghaani's works and likewise the tulaab too. I bought a couple of his books from a book conference, hopefully Allaah will make them a source of benefit for me, ameen.
