as salaamu alaykum,

Jazakallah khayr

The second argument i think is also quoted in Aqaaidul islaam. Beautiful read.

PS:

Look how the Imaam (rahmatullahi aleyh) answers the questions of the Dahriyyun;

-In which direction is your Lord ?
-In which place does your Lord exsist ?

:D

I'm sure I read somewhere where G F Haddad said that this story was a fabrication, not because he disagreed with the aqida elements, but because historically it was false. I think he said something about Imam Abu Hanifa (may Allah have mercy on him) not even being present in Baghdad during his youth or something. I can't remember the exact reason. But i'm sure it was regarding this story that he said it was a fabrication.

Any comments on the authenticity of this story?

I found this, but he does not comment on it;

Any source for the saying of GF Haddad?

it was on the old ASFA (As Sunnah Foundation of America) mailing list a long time ago. Around 8 years ago. I remember receiving this story in an email and forwarded it on the list and GF Haddad (who was a prominent contributor to the list) corrected me (or should I say the mail). I don't think they have the archives anymore. If anyone is in contact with him they could check with him?
