Salamu Alaikum there was a question posted on the Q&A section of the JaamiaHamidia Website

Question:Saalamu Alaikum Sheikh what is the ruling regarding Shahadah , are two withnesses necessary? and what is the ruling regarding Shahadahs over the internet example (paltalk, yahoo) i was curious about these matters

Answer:,

باسمه تعالى
The ruling differs from case to case. However, in normal cases, such as Nikaah two witnesses are necessary. As for the Shahadah over the internet, it is not valid in Shariah.

as salamu alaykum

also consider a person wanting to become muslim and so he gets in the car to drive to a masjid and give shahadah infront of muslims but he dies on the way, I would think that Allaah would meet him with mercy.

brother, the shahadah is between the person and Allah swt. i'm sure if you search islamqa or other sites you'll find a discussion on this topic and that you don't need any witnesses.

i remember one of my mates, who is a convert, took her shahadah on her own and four months later met these people that try assist to new muslims in teaching them, helping them and giving them shahadah certificates... they told her that all those four months she wasn't muslim because she didn't have any witnesses, so she had to "take her shahadah" again.

ridiculous.

Allaah is the witness and so are the people that are giving the shehaada.

Many people use the internet and might not have any access to other muslims .

indeed a lot of people do shahadah over the internet and there are more withnesses over the internet then in real life so the Jaamia answer isnt true and not balanced at all either , i say give me IslamQA website ok its salafi but its more detailled and balanced then Jaamia
