Assalaam 'alaykum.
Anyone got the usb stick broadband connection from mobile phone company?
I have some questions.
1. You don't need a landline do you?
2. Is the internet fast?
3. How much a month do you pay?
4. Which is the best company to go?
5. What are those deals where u get a free laptop?

If you go online using your phone or the USB 3G device then the internet is absolutely fine for web browsing, messengers, voice/video conferencing. Not good for downloading large files or using p2p like bitorrent. I signed up for normal broadband about 6 months ago but realised recently that I could have just paid £7.50 to my Vodafone contract and could just connect my phone by USB to my laptop and get online through the phone's 3G!
1. If you go online through the phone or the usb device you do not need a landline
2. About 3mb/s downstream and I think 128k - 256k upstream... basically good for almost everything except for people who download heavily
3. On o2 you could pay £5 a month on top of your contract, on Vodafone it is £7.50 - depends on your contract and network
4. I like vodafone because it has the best network coverage for where I am, you might prefer to go for the cheapest if you want to save the pennies, do some price research
5. Laptop deals are dodgy, the contract is 18month with huge cancellation charge, you get laptop after 28 days no sooner, the laptop isn't great at all. If you want to get a cheap but good laptop that's another thread.
