The new American commander in the town of Ramadi, publically and in the middle of the street, assaulted the local Sahwah chief Ra'd al-'Alwani, beating and kicking him in a rage, and yelling to him that all of the cars and other amenities you are enjoying were paid for by the blood and lives of American soldiers.
On another occasion, a Sahwah chief named 'Arif Mukhaybir went to visit the same commander, accompanied by the local Sahwah leadership, to extend an invitation to all of the American commanders in the area to attend a large walimah festival. What did the miskeen get for his trouble? He got a sound beating and kicking from the enraged commander, all in right in front of the other Sahwah leaders!
Similar incidents have apparently happened with other Sahwah leaders at the hands of their American paymasters.
It looks like the Sahwah groups have fulfilled their use - or perhaps the Americans have in actual fact found them to be largely useless - so now after being chewed up, they are being spat out ignominiously - the fate of every traitor.
