I've ordered their Album (Open Your Eyes) 18 days ago and I'm waiting for it now, I think it would take a long journey to arrive from Australia.

You can check their samples on www.takbirproductions.com or may be order the CD.

For me as I'm not an expert for English Nasheeds and Melodies I find it great, and the Acapella style helps us to listen it without fearing of falling in the HARAM issue, my main aim is to get familiarized with the Islamic Western Melodies that I can't find a reference for it except from Yusuf Islam.

These guys are perhaps the best of what's out there but certainly not something I would be interested in listening to for two reasons; a) the genre isn't my cup of tea and b) the lyrics suck. The voice and acapella talents are all there.

If you never listened to western music in the past it is highly unlikely you will be able to sing nasheeds in Western melodies.

If you did listen to Western music, then I guess the best wayof developing your own genre of halal acapella is by doing cover songs for all the Western songs you remember. Let's say you remember 'The Man Who Sold The World'. Take this song, search the net for the lyrics and chords/tabs/notes/sheetmusic and do your own acapella cover and improvise. Improvise on the melodies AND the lyrics. Change it to something like 'The Man Who Sold The Deen'... and you have your first hit :)

May also want to listen to 'Wake Up' or 'Mother'. NBN are decently big in Australia, but I don't really like English nasheeds. Sinful Slave is probably their best anyway.

Sounds a bit too pop.

"How can you deny" is better...

Never heard about.

And how about 'Lean On Me', I youtubed the word Acapella and I found it free of instruments and the lyrics seem like something related to the brotherhood and connectivity, how do you find its melody bro AbuZubair?

I guess I can give it a shot :/ may be!

I suggest you do a cover of a popular and classical song that everyone knows and you still remember, like Stand By Me. Everyone knows that song.

But I would suggest putting that aside for the next 21 days. 1/3 of Ramadan has already gone :(

I suggest you postpone it until Jannah where you can sing all the songs you want and be patient, and try to forget the tunes that you are bombarded with via airwaves.

Whether it's 40th symphony of Mozart, Debussy or Madonna.

Just drop it all together, it is all brainwashing.

I don't know it either!
Am I from another planet :)

I didn't mean in Ramadhan bro, we have other things to do, I just like to check IA for news from time to time, I like the atmosphere here.

It really is brainwashing. I used to be a big music-lover back in the day. Even wanted to be a DJ at some point LOL.

From one day to another all of that changed though. Because of one Ayah, SubhanAllah. I used to have thousands of songs on my computer, deleted all of them in one minute.

Al hamdo Lilah, I've never be involved with Music, from the first day I've opened my eyes I was taught that Music is HARAM and all what was in the house is:

لبّيك إسلام البطولة
عليك منّي سلام يا أرض أفغاني

And things like that , that was brought by my uncles from Afghanistan, I still remember them even that I was just a little kid in 1989-1990 and I'd learned them by heart.

My favorites along all these years are remain the same never changed:

Ghuraba'a (Strangers)
&
Mo'amaratun (The Conspiracy)

Dawud Wharnsby- his old tracks didn't contain music per se, there was a lot of duff but even back then he did a lot acapella. In my house we grew up on Dawud Wharnsby-eque nasheeds (anasheed, whatever).

Erm...never herd of it. Abuz Zubair, you really seem to know your music ;)
I thought everyone knows Stand By Me... gosh. The song was performed by kids at the Islamic school that my younger sibs attend. It was a bit of a shock, we're used to performances of Tala alBadru Alayna etc but they came out with Stand By Me.

LOL. Man I don't even miss that garbage wallahi.
I wish I could say the same but sometimes I get Muse's SMBH into my head and...

NU7- which ayah?

These artists are ex musicians, I don't doubt that much. There's no need for them to copy anything from the past since it was their own stuff they were producing before too, not anybody elses.

Perhaps people here will disagree, but I have a strong feeling that these western acapella halal r&b's, british pops and hiphops of today are but a stepping stone back to music for those that left it, since many people are in love with that music when they are told to stop it. So they go to this alternative with this desire in them. It's feared that sooner or later they start to look for dispensations and just bounce back into it in the name of Ibn al-'Arabi, Ghazali and Ibn Hazm. I think Yusuf Islam already did this and I hear some of these famous halal artists are getting close too.

Having mentioned that, another indicative of this is how you see these people walking back and forth on stage like New Kids On The Block infront of a screaming crowd saying "Now I know ya'll won't like this but I'ma say it anyway...." and starting to sing Don't Talk About Muhammad while the crowd keeps on screaming.

In addition to this, I don't think there's need to mention what I think of the Islamic boy bands who paint their faces for their music videos and the rest of this halal crew who first record their bets with their mouths, throw it in a mixer, slap 20 different "halal human sounds" on different tracks all on the top of eachother and heyy, we got a halal beat. Then they loop it and do whatever they want with it. Sooner or later you'll see most of these dudes all on the same horse I'm afraid.

I like those raw Jihadi Nashids that's sung in a cave around the fire, all of the rest is just girly stuff. Shame on you.
