بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم<o></o>

السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و براكته<o></o>

الحمد الله<o></o>

<o></o>
‘AbduLlah bin al-‘Abbas رضي الله عنهما once said, “Whoever wants to know if Allah سبحانه و تعالى loves him or not then let him see if he loves to recite the Word of Allah then Allah سبحانه و تعالى loves him but if he neglects then he should know that he is far away from the Love of Allah سبحانه و تعالى.”<o></o>

Lesson to be learnt from this athar:<o></o>
<o></o>
Loving to recite the Book of Allah سبحانه و تعالى means you Allah سبحانه و تعالى loves you and the opposite is true. We should spend the most of our time reciting the Qur`an specially in the month of Ramadhaan and then keep up with the practise. We should not only recite the Qur`an but also put it into practise by learning its Tafseer, contemplating upon it and asking Allah سبحانه و تعالى to make us understand the ayaat. Like Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله who used to read and study different tafaseer and even if he couldn’t understand the meaning and the interpretation of ayaat then he would go out to the open desert and do sajdah in the dirt and make the du‘a, “O’ the Teacher of Ibrahim عليه سلام, O’ the Teacher of Musa عليه سلام teach me the Qur`an!”<o></o>

God loves us. God IS love. Let us live our lives righteously out of love for Him.

If that would be the rule in Islam, nothing would be obligatory. Imaan goes up and down, so does love and if I would be following my feelings, I would be praying irregularly.

Muslims do 'Ibadah, because it's obligation, we have to do it whether we like it or not, and in the case of obligation of Jihaad, Allah tells us directly that we do not like it, but it's better for us.

Love is the outcome of 'Ibadah, it's a consequence, not a cause.

Love is not serious. Duties are.

Makes sense, but the quote from Ibn Abbas makes sense too. You might not feel like reciting, but generally, a good Muslim feels joy from reading or reciting Quran. I get huge pleasure when I memorise a new ayat, however, doesnt mean that I do it regularly, unfortunately :(

May Allah help us improve in this blessed month.

p.s. could we have a reference for that quote of Ibn Abbas?

You talk absolute garbage. Tell me, How on earth do you know what God is? Or what he wants? You don't. So please do us a favour and zip it.

Sh. William, you say that if we all receive our personal information directly from God, according to you (not to me), then it must be all different, since people have quite different beliefs: like you and me. So your position is inequality of people.

So your position is inequality of people.I apologize to Brother Melo but, to continue our conversation, Brother Abu Abdallah, I think that it is a yin and yang: two things equally true. On one hand we are all alike; on the other hand we are all different.

I have been reprimanded for not speaking enough...and now you reprimand me for speaking too much.

What, on this forum? I can't imagine that anyone here would "reprimand" you for keeping quiet!
