as-Salaamu 'alaikum...
Since we have often referred to the topic of Seeking Fatwa, who is or isn't a qualified Mufti, what to do when scholars differ, etc; I was wondering how about if we have an online course on the Etiquettes of Seeking Fatwa, so that we have a thorough understanding, as normal and average members of the Ummah, how the Fatwa system works (or at least, is supposed to work).
Are people interested?

Yup!
This is a topic that is very current to our times, we have people speaking without knowldge on so many issues, and we have so many scholars saying the most bizarre of things, its good to know who to trust and who not to trust.

Absolutely!
Also I would like it if these points were also elaborated upon:
-does one need to have studied under different scholars to 'be' a scholar...basically what is a definition of a scholar?
-difference between a mufti, qadhi, faqih, etc etc and whose fatwa can be taken and whose can't. Also is there a hierachy of scholars whereas the fatwa of a scholar in a 'higher' level overrules the fatwa of a scholar on a 'lower' level
-classification of Islamic scholarship and its qualifications (i believe i read somewhere that Islamic scholars were grouped under 6 or 7 cetagories beginning with 'mujtahid mutlaq')
-placing the past and recent scholars under this classification system
-Ijtihad: In the eyes of Allah, one mujtahid is right and the other wrong...but as human beings what is our criteria on judging who is speaking the Truth?
-and i guess this is a follow-up to the previous point: Ikhtilaf---what are the limits, and how does one know for sure that he/she has crossed them?
-Do we take opinions based on 'strongest' evidence, or 'easiest' action (Hadith: If Prophet (saw) was given two options, he would choose the easier one, as long as the easier one was not Haram)
I understand these are lots of points, but if you can elaborate on as much of these points in your discussion as possible then that would really help me out. Also if you can post relevant links then that would helpful as well.
JazakAllahu khairan for the initiative!

I have already prepared the notes. I would post them topic by topic on these forums and we'll discuss each of those topics and move on to cover the course.

*crickets chirping*
well akhi...whatever I can afford depends on how fast you post the discussions. So the quicker you post the discussion, the faster i can act upon it, and the more *ching*ching* your ajr bank can receive insha'Allah. I hope we can call it even this way.

yes... they are ready... but the problem nowadays is time...
aqida wouldn't take long to prepare since its just a one off lecture...
I am not sure how to deliver the course on etiquettes of seeking fatwa... I prefer delivering it vocally on Paltalk especially if the notes are ready... but the topic itself is slightly long and technical... due to which I think written form will be better. Allahu Alam... what do you think?
