Assalaamulekum wr wb

I have some urgent questions on Ramadhan. I had typed a whole page of questions and then they got deleted..Ahhhhhh!!!!
So I have to write it out again. This time remembeing to copy

Please spend some time answering as Im a bit clueless about things when Ramadhan starts. Please tell me what you KNOW from the hanbali madhab and your scholars. I'm so sorry to ask so many questions!

1. http://www.iccuk.org/ramadan_06.pdf

That is the RPM timetable. Pls check

a. do you stop eating before 1 min or 10 mins before fajr?

b. I once asked sheikh haytham when you pray fajr, he says 1 hour and 30 mins before finishing time to be certain. I asked because sometimes when they i.e regents park mosque , give you a time and you check out the window, you can't tell if its fajr because its fairly dark.
Although, Im not sure whether he meant 1 hour and 3 mins before fajr ends in summer months or all year round.

So for instance if fajr starts 4:57 and ends 6:57....shall I pray fajr at 4:57 or 5:17? I.e when does fajr begin for me?

2. Do I start the fast with the local community or what I think right? The RPM timetable starts from sunday......though my local mosque started today on saturday. What do I do?

3.What are the benefits of ramadhan. I know the shatayteen are locked up...what else?
Whats the befeit in doing good deeds in this month...for instance, is it true thhat if you offer someone a date to break fast, you get their good deed for fasting?

Pls let us know, and give us any links to articles.

May ALLAH reward you ameen, thanks again, and pls be prepared for feedback is neccesary. Oh and Ramadhan Mubarak!

As-sallamu 'alaikum

I read I thnk on ahya.org that the late shaykh Bin Baz(rh) who was a hanbali, said that it is permissable to pray 8 and anything up to 20 as this was the practice of the sahaaba(raa) also.

As far as my limited understanding go's the correct number (that which the majority of ulema have agreed upon)of rakah for salatul taraweeh is 20.

The Hanafis and hanbalis are agreed on this, the shafis used to perform tawaf during taraweeh(as they were based in mecca)after every set of 2 rakah (i think),so the malakis would pray an extra 2 rakah in place of the tawaf.

Ive got a book which has statemets from the ulema of the past and they all say taraweeh is 20 rakah in accordance with the ijma of the sahaba, these ulema include shaykh Ibn Taymiya.

Sorry bro ashari-salafi for replying late..

Ramadan is a VERY busy period and I really hate having to refute Ash'aris in this blessed month where I could be doing something more beneficial! Otherwise, I have very little time nowadays.

Yes, the Hanbali Madhab says 20 being the recommended number, but a person may pray as much as he wants to. The minimum number is two.

Thanks for everyones kind replies,

Abuz Zubair,

Why don't you ease on them for this month then, and just do some Ramadhan q-a. That's would be more beneficial.

Thanks again.

Salaam Alikum Wa Rahmatullaahi Wa Barakah

Akhi Abu Zubair one of the brothers showed me Full Moon after afjar prayer on 7 oct 2006. He said that this proves that the day we began fasting, which was 23 sept was correct because after 15 days the moon becomes compelete.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/space/20061006/sc_space/tonightsfullmoon12percentbigger;_ylt=AsJIBHbm.pz9J H98AopTNeKs0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTA3ODdxdHBhBHNlYwM5NjQ-

If this is true than does this mean that those who began fasting from 25 oct were wrong? And what should these people do?

Wa Jazak Allaah Khair.

The only reason I am continuing to pursue the Ash'aris is because there isn't anyone else out there defending the Sunnah save very few. If we fall silent, the gulible people will easily be mislead. So it is more like an obligation and responsiblity.

Whereas we can be lenient on the issues of fiqh and take our questions to whichever mufti of whichever madhab.

Furthermore, we should not seek fatwas on internet forums. We commoners should endeavour to make links with their muftis and approach them for a fatwa.

We were meant to study how the fatwa system works, but due to the disaster that happened we couldn't. Perhaps after Ramadan, inshaAllah.
