HOW DID THE ASH’AREE MATHHAB SPREAD IN THE ISLAMIC WORLD?
Abul-hasan al-ash'aaree used to live in al'-iraaq and he was raised in the home of a mu'tazilee scholar called muhammad ibn 'abdil-wahhaab al-jabaa'iee a.k.a(abu'alee al-jaba'iee) and he learned from him the bid'ah of i'tizaal and studied with him for a period of time untill he abul-hasan himself became an imaam in this bid'ah.He debated his teacher in many issues and differed with him strongly and when he saw falsehood in this
he left it and traversed the way of abu Muhammad Abdullah ibn sa’eed ibn kullaab because he saw it to be a better mathhab then that of his first teacher because the the kullabee 'aqeedah affirms some sifaat- of allah(the mu'atzilah affirm the names and not the sifaat) that are known as AS-SIFAATUL-'AQLIYAH
those sifaat that could be affirmed by logic and this mathhab also says that the miracles of the prophets are logically acceptable and a sharee’ah obligation and other issues that his first shaikh al-jibaa'ee rejected..
And for these reasons abul-hasan acceptes the kullabee 'aqeedah but as i mentioned in the previous post that the mathhab was then attributed to abul-hasan due to the fact that he was more active in spreading it.Abul-hasan became a thorn in the side of the mu'tazilah and the rest of the nufaat(negators) and became well-known for it.He gained many followers from amongst the fuqahaa' like ahsahrastaani and imaam al-ghazaali and imaam al-haramain and others and most of them were from shafi'ee scholars of fiqh.This mathhab spread like wild-fire in al'iraaq and untill reached ashaam(palestine.lebabnon syria) in 380hijrah.
When salaahu-deen al-ayyoobee took over misr he spread the ash'aree 'aqeedah.He embraced it when he and his judge sadru-deen ibn dirbaas were living in damascus where salahu-deen was representing his kinf norru-deen ibn zinkee.Al-ayyoobe even had his children memorize a book in the ash'aree 'aqeedah writen by qutbu-deen an-naysaabooree.So it became a 'aqeedah that the people had their children memorize.It also spread in north africa at the hands of ibn tomart(who picked it up whe he was in al'iraaq) and the after he died it was forced upon people by 'abdul'momin ial-qaysee who ruled that empire tHEY called (dawlatul-muwahhideen)This state killed so many people for not believing this 'aqeedah(which they called al’aqeedah at-tomarteeyah) but after investigation one clearly see that all this killing in reality wasnt for the 'aqeedah itself but for their imaam (ibn tomart) who they lived to be the infallible mahdee(as mentioned al-miqreezy in his book ('AL-khutat).

So all this why we find the ash'aree mathhab widespread in the islamic world.Most of the centesr of leaning like al-azhar and az-zaitoonah university are upon the asha'aree belief and most scholars in the islamic lands(with the acception of ksa) are upon the this deviant 'aqeedah.But we see that this mathhab is slowly fading away and this from the fadl of allah and then the efforts of shaykhul-islam-ibnu-taymiyah and ibn abdil-wahhab and the the salafee scholars of this time like shaikh al-albaani and shaikh ibnu-baaz and shaikh muhammad khaleel- al-harraas and sheikh ameen ashinqeetee(the latter 2 were raised asha'aree! then returned to the salafee creed!!).
may allah keep us firm upon the 'aqeedah of the messenger of allah(alaihissalaam) and his companions and all those who followeed them in good untill yawmul-qiyaamah.ameen
