wa aleykum as salam

I am not qualified to rate books by such scholars, but I guess its ok ))

instead I would like to ask a question. If I am allowed to combine and shorten my prayers, for example because I am a traveller, but because currently I am in an easier situation, I combine but do not shorten my prayers. Is this OK, or am I going against sunna, and I should shorten my prayers?

If anyone has any idea please answer, barakallahu feekum!

Sh al-Albani's book is one of the best on the topic.

Although you can, but it is better not to combine unless you think you have to. But you should always shorten the prayer when you are travelling.

Salam alaikum. I have to agree with brother Abu Zubair about the book of Albanee. I also say, that for a start it is better to start with this book or if someone is interested only to read one book on salah then this is the best book as it is the nearest to perfection in this regard and of course it does need other books to perfect itself it is a consise and based on the daleel and it is strait to the point and easy to understand and follow. It combines the daleels of all the madhhabs and it is a briliant starting point in the study of fiqh if explained by someone who is qualified.

Regarding the matter that the brother has mentioned about the prayer, the best thing is to combine the prayers only while on the move or in need for such and regarding the shortening them, as brother Abu Zubair has said it is better to shorten them and this is prefered but brother do keep in mind that if you are close to the mosque it is better to go and pray in the mosque with the jamah and do not be negligent regarding this matter as some do. Shortening the prayer is a lincence for ease and not a licence for neglect and abandonment of good as we have seen widely spread between brothers. And Allah knows best.
