Could someone give me some info about praying Isha straight after maghrib when it is raining? They do this in one of the masjids near me and I would like to know more about this practice,I know I could ask them at the masjid but they dont speak much english there.

Is this(to pray Isha togeather with Maghrib when it is raining) the position of the hanbali's or any of the other madahib? if so is their a consensus amongst the ulema of any paticular madhab on this practice or is it a minorty view?

Which hadith do those who do this base their understanding on?

JazakAllah khair.

This is the Hanbali madhab (if the rain is heavy enough to soak ones clothes), and the proof of that is that the Prophet – SallAllahu ‘alaihi wa-sallam – combined maghrib and ‘isha due to rain, as narrated by al-Athram. This is also reported from Abu Bakr, ‘Umar and ‘Uthman.

JazaAllah Khair akhi Abu Zubair for your response.I asked a hanafi alim about what I should do when praying with these brothers and they join the prayer for rain, and he told me to make niyah for nafl salah and pray with them and then just pray Isha later.

MashaAllah I really liked that response as it adds to our unity despite our minor fiqhi differences.
