this kind of stuff is dangerous!!, everything is halal until proven otherwise
He it is Who created for you all that is on earth. Then He Istawâ (rose over) towards the heaven and made them seven heavens and He is the All-Knower of everything. (Al-Baqarah 2:29)
so when brothers say stuff like smarties are filled with pig, just eat it in there face's. subahanallah, this is a type of extremism. Brothers have apostasied because they thought islamic food regulations were too strict.

Assalamu alaykum,
Macdonalds haram!!!! That made me laugh.... who would think otherwise. I dont even eat their spew in muslim countries. How about those who go for umrah and stuff macdonalds for 10 days:confused:
I have worked in alot of the turkish takeaways who get supplied with jj foods, and i wouldnt eat the stuff at all. Not sure if they are made with pork, but, if they are not haram, they are not WHOLESOME.
When you eat takeaway foods, you should ask as to whether it is halal or not. If the restuarant is genuine , they wont mind you asking, if they arnt so genuine, they might get stroppy with you. Dont eat in pizza hut or the like, cos i used to work in one before islam and surely we used the same knife for everything. Non muslims have no understanding on muslims' stance on pork.
And as for smarties, they are a nestle product, which should be boycotted in every sense, however if you are one of those who have the idea that boycotting is not from islam and doesnt achieve anything, the pink smarties are the ones which have a dye that is derived from animal substances. Anyone who is sincerely interested in which confectionary is halal or not, you can email nestle and they send you a complete list. Easy.

Huh this is pretty confusing .
I know a good brother who works in pizza hut and he informed us that everything has to be seperate by law for vegetarian pizzas .
I'ts the blue smarites that have the highest concentration all the children in all our familes are not allowed to eat those ones .
Hasn't a website got all about these kinds of matters?

Please people stop this extreme searching. Say if someone loved going to pizza hut on a friday with some mates, while all the time thinking that they used differnt knifes. What do you think his reaction will be when he finds out the info you have just posted?.
All im saying is, make things easy for yourself. If you think something is halal dont go on the internet everyday trying to find out if its haram and then tell everyone you know likes it.
.....and remember: if you think something is halal and someone tells you otherwise, he has to prove(without a shadow of a doubt) its haram not the other way round.

I would think he would think to change his venue of chillin'

are you saying that researching is not correct???? I think it is paramount to our lives as muslims to understand what we are consuming,

is that proof enough, infact smarties are not even listed so it means all colours are out of bounds!
When a muslim takes a lazy approach to the food factor, it is because his belly rules his desire.

Habibi, all im saying is that all this in depth searching of every chemical that after this and that chemical process has a 0.143 chance of maybe making your food haram.
akh nomad, i dont care what you do. All im trying to say to all the weak muslims is :that if you think something is halal ,dont get pulled into the trap of shaytan who wants you to think that its haram and that all food is haram and that the shariah isnt fair. This is not being lazy. This is gaurding yourself from the plots of shaytan.
There is a very good example of this in a naration about Ameer al-mu'mineen 'umar , but i dont have it with me at the moment, if anyone has this naration then please could you post it wa gafarallahu lak.

There is a very good example of this in a naration about Ameer al-mu'mineen 'umar...Abu Faaris, do you mean this narration...?

I dont understand your maths... how do you calculate????? The additives that are put in our food these days are listed and can be checked if they are allowed or not. It's not a biggy. Why would you get pulled into shaytaans plot to find out whats in your food? Is it because your intention is that you dont want to find out your favourite snack is not suitable for our diet as a muslim, because you will be faced with having to sacrifice it? Is it maybe one of your shortcomings that you are trying to defend so vehemently?
BTW you have hit the nail on the head with this topic, as this is my forte. So, not to take this personnally, but its really a good topic, Im just being your mirror abu faris:)

shortcoming?, akhi i mostly eat home cooking and rarely, raley buy food from the sons of fornication, so this topic doesnt affect me, however it does affect good brothers i know.
This whole checking the addatives doesnt end there. You will check the internet daily to see the newest update on chemical E453, you will find one scientist saying that technicaly after its molecular change it has reverted back to the chemical makup of a pig, while another 20 scientist will say that it doesnt have these properties and is still vegi freindly. Somone will take this fresh unconfirmed news and then spread it to every weak muslim, wich isnt a good thing.
....and akhi dont now go on the net and look up wether E453 is haram or not because i just made it up.:)

ASA,
it's not the first time I have heard about JJ foods. A friend of mine worked for them, and he would anonymously call up the 'halal' chicken shops to tell them which chicken and meat products were not really halal. The shops usually told him to go away cos they didn't care! now that's food for thaught...
True about JJ, but how will you know who supplies the chicken shop you go to??

Bro Abu Faaris..
Did not the companions leave things out of taqwaa even IF they were halal..JUST for mere doubt being not halal?..this as ulema say is the HIGHEST form of taqwaa where a man leaves out of fear of Allah things which maybe halal to avoid His punishment...
As for the principal that "everything is Halal until proven haram" ...then there are exceptions to this rule as mentioned by Imam Sa'dee
1- Meat- is haram until proven halal
2- Women - are haram until proven halal
3- Wealth- is haram until proven halal
4- Soul - is haram to take until proven halal to be killed
As for those who are making things halal...then the prinicpal which scholars say that "Al-aslu bareeun minal zimmah"...that in essence a person is FREE and not subjected to ANY ibadah until it is proven....and upon this the ulema say that IF a person CAN NOT prove the Haram to him, then it is HARAM to follow him and leave it...
As for your objection to search..then ya akhi...have you forgotten the hadith of that person who was on a LONG JOURNEY and he raised his hands to Allah and called upon Him, but prophet said that he used to eat haram, his up-bringing was upon haram,,then how could Allah respond to his call?
So, we have to keep middle path..the issue would be different IF WE WERE residing in a MUSLIM country where MAJORITY of products are halal...BUT NOW, we are residing where MAJORITY of products are HARAM, so we DO CHECK every product before consuming it...cos as the principal says...
"3moomul balwah"....i hope abu zubair can explain this principal better....
and alhamdulillah, we were asked to search upon this issue and i came across a book by Sheikh Saalih Fawzan its called "ahkaamul ashribah wal adhiyyah"...
he mentions in DETAIL about a person residing in a non muslim country where the meat is slaughtered by either:
1- people of book
2- other then people of book
3- meat imported by countries other then people of book
4- eating meat of a country where the country is seemed as "people of book"
he goes through each senario in depth and mentions the aqwaal of ulema and akhi, this subject is not a simple as we may seem it is....so, as the principal says
"khroojun minal khilaaf mustahab"......leaving out from ikhtilaaf is prefferible...someone who has done fiqh and usool here would understand this rule inshallah....
Wa salamu 3alikeum wa rahmatullah
