Salaam,
Here we will revive the dyin' as-sahwah board insha'Allah. Provide a nice quote (ayah, hadith or whatever), but REFERENCE IT!!!
My favourite is...
"Oh my brothers, what can we say? Because of our grief, our tears are coming down. Our tears are coming down, on a friendship that is based on love and brotherhood." (In The Hearts Of Green Birds)

Wa-salaam,

Salaam,

Assalamualaikum,

Abdullah Ibn Mubarak wrote in a letter to Al-Fudayl Ibn Iyaadh:

"Oh you who offer prayer in the sacred mosque!
Had you witnessed us in the battlefield
You would know that, compared to our Jihaad,
Your worship is child's play.
For every tear you have shed upon your cheek,
We have shed in its place blood upon our chests.
You are playing with your worship,
While worshipers offer your worship,
Mujahideen offer their blood and person."

Assalamualaikum,

Masha'Allah this one is definately one of my favourites:

(The Will of Shaykh Azzam)

"Oh you Muslims! You have slept for a long time, long enough for the tyrants to take control over you. You accepted to live as slaves and submitted to tyrants. Now the time has come to revolt and destroy the shackle of slavery."

Wassalam.

Salaam,
Jazakumullah khairan for the above quotes.
I love this one:

Indeed, tears come to our eyes when we remember the dua one of the Mujahideen was making during the pain and suffering in Gul Agha's torture camp. "O Allah! O our Lord! We have not come here for any reason except to raise Your word, except to fight against the people who are killing the ones who say "Laa ilaaha illallaah (There is no God but Allah)". O Allah, make this torture easy upon us. O Allah! let not any of our brothers or sisters taste a bit of this torture. O Allah, we know that Your paradise is not cheap, but Allah we are weak, we are weak, O our Lord, the Most High" (qoqaz.net)

"Hiya maytatun waahidah, fal takun fee sabeelillah"

The death is only once, so let it be in the Path of Allah.

This quote is said by Sheikh Abdullah Azzam in the Arabic version of the 'Martyrs of Bosnia' Part 1.

"History does not write its lines except with blood. Glory does not build its loft edifice except with skulls, Honour and respect cannot be established except on a foundation of cripples and corpses. Empires, distinguished peoples, states and societies cannot be established except with examples. Indeed those who think that they can change reality, or change societies, without blood, sacrifices and invalids, without pure, innocent souls, then they do not understand the essence of this Deen and they do not know the method of the best of the Messengers (may Allah bless him and grant him peace)."

Last Words of Khalid bin Al-Waleed, Sword of Allah

By Umm (Umm) on Thursday, May 30, 2002 - 01:42 pm: Edit

Salaam,
Jazakullah khairan brothers. In reference to the above quote Masha'Allah , I read this in the e-book "Sword of Allah"
www.swordofallah.com
that Khalid (RA) asked an unnamed friend to examine his body (excluding his `awrah) and find one hand-span not covered with a wound. His friend could not. Khalid (RA) was lamenting why he could not therefore have died in battle. Here is the firaasah (clear-sightedness) displayed by his friend Masha'Allah, when he said:
"When the Messenger of Allah, on whom be the blessings of Allah and peace, named you Sword of Allah, he predetermined that you would not fall in battle. If you had been killed by an unbeliever it would have meant that Allah's sword had been broken by an enemy of Allah; and that could never be."

there are two I love, neither are quotes...

"...I would love to be martyred in Al1ah's Cause and then get resurrected and then get martyred, and then get resurrected again and then get martyred and then get resurrected again and then get martyred".

Volume 4, Book 52, Number 54:
Narrated by Abu Huraira:

the other, which is too long to type out is the story of Sa'ad bin abi waqas[ra] when he took his army accross the river tigris. A kaffir saw and screamed 'diwaana diwaana'!

That made me laugh.

a true personification of loving death more than life- indeed trusting in Allah.

Assalamualaikum,

Another excellent quote, piece of advice from Shaykh Azzam:

"Oh you Muslim women! Beware of extravagence, for it is the enemy of Jihaad and it causes the death of the human soul. Beware of complementary commodities and stick to the basic necessities.

Bring up your children to be brave and courageous. Let your houses be places for lions not chicken farms in which your sons will be fed then slaughtered by tyrants like sheep. Instill in the hearts of your sons the love for Jihaad and the love of battlefields. Share the problems of Muslim Ummah. Live one day a week like refugees and Mujahideen live. They live on dry bread and tea."

Masha'Allah, another excellent quote, definitely my cup of tea:

"Indeed Islamic History is not written except with the blood of the Shuhadaa (Martyrs), except with the stories of the Shuhadaa and except with the examples of the Shuhadaa".

(Shaykh Azzam)

"So come to the Gardens of Eden, for they are Your original abode and therein are camping grounds;
But we are captives of the enemy, so can we then Return to our home countries and surrender?"

When the time of Khalid ibn Al-Waleed, r.a., came to depart from the world, he said: "I reached every possible place for Shahadah, but it was written in my fate that I should die on my bed. In my opinion there is no deed more dearer than my waiting with my horse and shield in the darkness of night, the sky to be glittering due to the rain, waiting for the onset of dawn, so that I can attack the enemy."

Salaam,
Jazakumullahu Khairan for the quotes. There are a few I hadn't read before Masha'Allah, like the one above, so I am learning a lot Masha'Allah. I think I need to post this one:

"The love of Jihad continues to dominate my life, my feelings, my senses and myself."

May all my sisters and myself one-day have husbands and young sons who are slain in the path of Allah, thus granting each of us the envious position of being zawjatush-shaheed and umm-us-shuhadaa'. Ameen, Ameen, ya rabbul `alameen.

Salaam,
Jazakumullahu khairan to all. Nice to see another sis here Masha'Allah. U know this hadith above? Someone had written it in Urdu in Madinah Book1 (yellow cover). This was in the chapter teaching "min ayna anta?" (where r u from)?" showing an example of Mandarin and Urdu. How's that for bein' sneaky Masha'Allah?!!! Saudi published it unaware!!!! Of course one of the urdu speaking Saudi-Govt spies must've eventually spotted it and removed it, as it's not in the latest printed version (blue and red book)! Still I read it (struggling) in the old one and was really laughing!!!

Anyway, back to the subject, I really like this quote by Ibnul Khattab (RA).
"In the 1980's the martyred Sheikh Abdullah Azzam coined a phrase whose meaning reverberates today across the battlefields of Chechnya. he described the Mujaahideen who were killed in battle as joining the "Caravan of Martyrs"
(It's on the back of Shaykh Azzam's "Join The Caravan" - published by Azzam.

Insha'Allah our brother Ibnul-Khatttab has himself now joined this caravan, having begun the final journey to his Rabb.

Assalamualaikum,

On the authority of Anas bin Malik (RA), the Messenger of Allah (SAWS) said:
"Whosoever fights in a single battle in the Path of Allah has rendered unto
Allah all acts of obedience. "So whosoever wills, then let him believe and
whosoever wills then let him disbelieve. Indeed we have prepared for the
wrongdoers a fire." [Quran 18:29]. The Companions asked: "After this hadith
that we have heard from you, who will then abandon Jihad and sit behind?" He
(SAWS) said: "Those whom Allah has cursed, His Anger is upon and for whom He
has prepared a severe punishment are a people who will appear near the end
of time and they will deny Jihad. My Lord has taken an oath upon Himself that
He will not break, that whichever of His servants meets him in such a state,
He will punish him in such a way that He has not punished anyone in the
Universe."
[Ibn Asakir transmitted it in the section: 'The Seriousness of Abandoning
Jihad.' (Mashari-ul-Ashwaq by Ibn Nuhaas, Vol. 1, P. 107)]

On the authority of Zaid bin Aslam Al-Adawi (RA) from his father (RA), the
Messenger of Allah (SAWS) said: "Jihad will remain sweet and green as long as
rain continues to drop from the sky, yet there will come upon the people a
time when their scholars will say: 'This is not the time for Jihad.' So
whoever witnesses this time then let him know that this is the best time for
Jihad." The Companions asked: "O Messenger of Allah (SAWS), will anyone really
say that?" He (SAWS) replied: "Yes, he upon whom is the curse of Allah, His
Angels and all of mankind."
[Ibn Asakir transmitted it. (Mashari- ul-Ashwaq by Ibn Nuhaas, Vol. 1, P. 110)]

CORRECTION: This was said by Umar bin Al-Khattab:

"If it was not for three things, I would have seen no point in continuing to live in this World: (i) To cover my face with dust in prostration to Allah; (ii) Jihad in the Path of Allah; and (iii) sitting in the company of people who like to pick good topics for conversation like a man likes to pick good dates from a tree."

It is a very famous and well-known statement.

Salams

Jihaad Al-Nafs comes in the battlefield as the Mujaahid Sheikh Abdullah Azzam and Ibn Qayyim says "Jihaad Al-Nafs is to learn and act upon it " So if you learnt about Jihaad and you do this great deed you are doing Jihaad Al-Nafs...

But please don't tell me Jihaad Al-Nafs is to "struggle against your innerself" and that is "better than Jihaad with the rifle"!

One of my favorites:

"Verily, Allâh has purchased of the believers their lives and their properties; for the price that theirs shall be the Paradise. They fight in Allâh's Cause, so they kill (others) and are killed. It is a promise in truth which is binding on Him in the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel) and the Qur'ân. And who is truer to his covenant than Allâh? Then rejoice in the bargain which you have concluded. That is the supreme success." [Qur'an 9:111]

Profound words:

"To be martyred is to be chosen by Allaah; whoever is not good enough for it, let him not expect it."

Salaam,
Jihad of the nafs is the lesser type. But of course it takes a hell of a lot of jihad of the nafs to get and stay on the battle-field.
----------------------------------------------
Greater and 'Lesser' Jihad?
By Abu Khubayb and Abu Zubayr

THE SLANDERED JIHAD

Among the erroneous notions aimed at stifling the spirit of Jihad in this Ummah is the idea of 'greater' and 'lesser' Jihads. According to this belief, striving against desires of the self is considered the Greater Jihad, which makes the Jihad of the battlefield the Lesser Jihad. This idea is based upon a story mentioned by al Khatib al Baghdadi in his book, "The History of Baghdad", by way of Yahya ibn al 'Ala', who said,

"We were told by Layth, on the authority of 'Ata', on the authority of Abu Rabah, on the authority of Jabir, who said, 'The Prophet (salallaahu 'alayhee wa sallam) returned from one of his battles, and thereupon told us, 'You have arrived with an excellent arrival, you have come from the Lesser Jihad to the Greater Jihad - the striving of a servant (of Allah) against his desires.''"

This concept, despite the fact that it is based on a hadeeth, can be refuted from several aspects, of which we shall mention the following.

Firstly:

This hadeeth cannot be used to establish proof, for Al Bayhaqi has said regarding it, "Its chain of narration is weak. (Da'eef)", Al Suyuti also pronounced a verdict of weakness on it in his book, "Al Jam'i al Saghir".

Somebody might claim that da'eef (weak) Ahadeeth can be accepted in matters of supererogatory virtuous deeds. This is unacceptable, for we do not believe that Jihad can be a supererogatory deed. Indeed, how can it be so when the Messenger of Allah (salallaahu 'alayhee wa sallam) has said that the asceticism of his Ummah lies in Jihad?

Furthermore, anybody who follows up on Yahya ibn al 'Ala', the narrator of the hadeeth, will find in his biography things which will make him forsake the man's Ahadeeth. Ibn Hajar al 'Asqalani said about him in "Al-Taqrib",

"He was accused of forging Ahadeeth."

Al Dhahabi said in "Al-Mizan",

"Abu Hatim said that he is not a strong narrator, Ibn Mu'in classified him as weak, al Daraqutni said that he is to be neglected, and Ahmad ibn Hanbal said that he is a liar and a forger of Ahadeeth."

Secondly:

This hadeeth explicitly contradicts clear verses of the Qur'an. Allah the Mighty, the Majestic, says, (Translation of the Meaning),

"Those believers who sit back are not equal to those who perform Jihad in the Path of Allah with their wealth and their selves. Allah has favored those who perform Jihad with their wealth and their selves by degrees over those who sit back. To both (groups) has Allah promised good, but Allah has favored the mujahideen with a great reward, by ranks from Him, and with Forgiveness, over those who sit back. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful." Qur'an [4:95-96]

Thirdly:

This hadeeth contradicts mutawatir (mass-narrated) Ahadeeth which have been reported from the Prophet (salallaahu 'alayhee wa sallam), and which make plain the excellence of Jihad. We will mention a few of these.

"A morning or an evening spent in the Path of Allah is better than the world and all it contains."

[Bukhari and Muslim]

"Standing for an hour in the ranks of battle in the Path of Allah is better than standing for sixty years (in prayer)." [Sahih al- Jami']

Abu Hurayrah (radiallaahu 'anhu) said,

"Is any of you able to stand in prayer without stopping, and to fast continuously for as long as he lives?" The people said, "Oh Abu Hurayrah! Who could endure that?" He said, "By Allah! A day of a mujahid in the Path of Allah is better than that."

The claim of those who say that the 'struggle against the self' is the Greater Jihad because the individual is put to test by day and by night, may be refuted by the following hadeeth:

On the authority of Rashid, on the authority of Sa'd (radiallaahu 'anhu), on the authority of one of the Companions, that a man said, "Oh Messenger of Allah! Why is it that the believers are all put to trial in their graves, except for the martyrs?" He (salallaahu 'alayhee wa sallam) said, "The clashing of swords above his head was sufficient trial for him." [Sahih al-Jam'i]

Fourthly:

This erroneous and slanderous notion involves injustice and wrong to the status of the Mujahideen. Allah (Ta'aala) has ordered us to practice justice in our verdicts, saying, (Translation of the Meaning),

"Be just, it is closer to piety; and fear Allah. Allah is aware of what you do." Qur'an [5:8]

Is it any part of justice and fair treatment for us to say that our brethren in the land of attention and battle are in a lesser Jihad when the mines are exploding beneath their feet, with the result that their bodies fly into the air, and their limbs and blood are scattered all over, to the extent that their pure corpses cannot be contained in a grave?

And that is for the sake of Allah, and if He wills, He may bless the limbs of a body torn to pieces.

Were these youths in a lesser Jihad, while our fasting, and breaking our fasts on the most delicious of food are then a greater Jihad?

By Allah! This is an unequal measure, and if you were to put the matter before the most knowledgeable people on earth, they would never arrive at such a disparate verdict.

Fifthly:

The Egyptian, Dr. Muhammad Amin says, in his book, "The Path of Islamic Propagation",

"Jihad of the self and Jihad by wealth, if they do not lead one to establish the Call of Truth, and to stand beside it, enjoining the right and forbidding the wrong, and contributing one's life and wealth in the Path of Allah, are deficient Jihads containing inadequacy. It is astonishing that the hour of testing and of severity, in which the feet are shaken and the heart reaches the throat, can be called the Hour of the Lesser Jihad, while the hours of safety and comfort in secure homes, in the midst of one's family and friends, can be called hours of the Greater Jihad! In the like of such appellations do the holders-back rejoice in their sitting behind from obeying the Messenger of Allah (salallaahu 'alayhee wa sallam) and his Companions (radiallaahu 'anhum)? Such people find contentment and comfort in this way, while in reality they only deceive their weak souls, for the true values of the deeds are entirely the opposite."

Finally, we conclude with some verses which were sent by the mujahid scholar 'Abdullaah ibn al Mubarak, from the land of Jihad to his friend Al Fudayl ibn 'Iyad, who used to preach to the rulers and make them cry, yet did not seek any payment, being a sincere worshipper.

Oh worshipper in the Two Sanctuaries, if you could only behold us, You would see that you, in your devotions, are only playing. If you are one whose cheek is tinged with his tears, Then our chests are dyed with our blood.

"ONE OF MY FAVOURITES IMAMS ABDULLAH IBN MUBARAK"

The Pretended Jihad

Some people may be astonished when they hear a person describing Jihad in person as a lesser Jihad, or who deems fighting in the Path of Allah (Ta'aala) little in comparison to other acts of devotion. However, if we pursue the lives of these people, look at their histories and investigate the reason for their confusion regarding the matter, we will find that the explanation for their stance is simple. These are the people who people undervalue Jihad and give priority to studying in universities, writing in magazines, and giving speeches in conferences over fighting and being martyred. By examining their lives, one will find a common denominator, which brings them together in deficiency and unites them in their viewpoint.

The common denominator among the feeble and those who hold back from Jihad (the people of theories and concepts) is that they have not participated in Jihad. The opportunity has not presented itself to these people (by the Will of Allah Ta'aala), nor have they had the good fortune to join a camp of mujahideen. In such a camp there is a lack of luxuries and a scarcity of necessities which would make them feel the difference between a day in the camp and a similar day in the university with its food, entertainment, and air-conditioned class rooms.

How can these people recognize the true value of Jihad when they have not participated in the regiments of war nor entered into the arenas of tumult?

If a man plunges into a single battle, it will be sufficient to correct all his misconceptions. The mujahid, in only a few hours, may see things whose horror would make children gray haired: bombs and splinters sweeping away the souls of the most beloved of his Brethren who shared with him his traveling, training, ribaat (guarding the front line), and Jihad. What will be the situation of these people when the rockets and shells are exploding over their heads and beneath their feet? How will it be when they see with their very own eyes the scattering of arms, legs and intestines so that a healthy body with well-proportioned limbs will become handicapped, dismembered, or paralyzed?

This then is the underlying reason for the confusion on the part of those who underrate Jihad.

In a few hours or days, the mujahid sees, with his own eyes, such hardships, trials, and tribulations, as others do not see in decades. It will be impossible for anyone who engages in this experience of Jihad to equate physical Jihad with other pacifistic means of Da'wah. Therefore, anyone who disputes with the mujahid in the issue of Jihad or who calls people to abandon fighting should join a camp, even if only as a servant. Or he should participate in a battle even if only as a cook. Then after that, we will see if, in his opinion, the pen is equal to the Kalashnikov.

We drink the intoxicating drink of Shahaada.
This living is not living,
We live by having our heads cut off;
We are not repressed by falsehood, this is our Eemaan
We diminish falsehood;
We love the Deen, and believe in the giving of gifts
When we give gifts,
We give our lives.

In the name of Allah Al-Rahman Al-Raheem

On hearing that the Pakistani goverment wanted to clamp down on the fund raising for the Jihadi movements:

(Paraphrasing what i remember from the tape in urdu)

"If the government thinks it will chase those who raise funds and remove the collection boxes. Then I say to them do your worst you may stop all of this but how will you stop that Hand that sends rizq to the mujahideen from the seventh heavens?"

If I get cut down in the battlefield, don’t even say uff. Bear my departure with patience oh mother.
I have lived with desire for Shahaada in my heart, I have wanted to drink this drink Shahaada, now watch how I drink this fine drink

If I get cut down in the battlefield, don’t even say uff. Bear my departure with patience oh mother.

If they cut my ears, even take out my eyes, and cut my nose and make a necklace - then remember the ameer of the shaheed Humza (RA)

If I get cut down in the battlefield, don’t even say uff. Bear my departure with patience oh mother.

If the loss of my life at a young age irritates you, my shroud less buried body comes to mind - then remember the Shahaada of Musaab Ibn Umair (RA)

If I get cut down in the battlefield, don’t even say uff. Bear my departure with patience oh mother.

After me let not my Kalashonkov hit the ground, be sure not to let the Hindu's even take a sigh of relief - just keep sending your sons like Khansa (RA)

Salaam,
Masha'Allah, the one who wrote it has the right attitide. Too many Muslims have become far too poncy living in the West. I had a heated debate today on another board with a US Muslim youth with the "oh man, what should I do? Hate them?" kinda attitude about the Kaafir terrorist US govt, just because he has a US passport. The wahn is affecting the youth, the very hope of Islam. In contrast, we have another American Muslim, who stood firm in the face of oppression, and risked his life fee sabeelillah

On the authority of Abu Hurayra, may Allah be pleased with him, who said:
"The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and his Companions set out in a hurry so that they reached Badr ahead of the polytheists. The polytheists arrived, and the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: ‘Rise to the Paradise, whose width embraces the heavens and the earth!" Umayr bin al Humam said: ‘Hurrah!’ The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: ‘What impels you to say "Hurrah! hurrah!" He said: ‘Nothing, O Messenger of Allah, except the hope that I may be one of its people.’ He said: ‘You are indeed one of its people.’"
He (Abu Hurayrah) said:
"And he [Umayr] took out some dates from his quiver and began eating them. Then he said: ‘If I live long enough to eat all my dates, my life will indeed be a long one!’ So he flung away the remaining dates, and fought until he was slain." Transmitted by Muslim.

SHEIKH ABDULLAH AZZAM
"When Allah chooses one of the brothers for martyrdom or takes the life of one of our beloved children, who have participated with us in this path, I cry for myself because these people have preceded us and this is a sign that we are not yet worthy for martyrdom. It is a clear proof that we are not yet suitable for this high rank. Allah (SWT) chose these people and I observed that these people shared common traits: good feelings towards the Muslims and awareness of what they say to their Muslim brothers and sisters. You would not find them wasting their time because their deeds occupied them; their faults busied them from the faults of the people, so congratulations for him who busied himself with his faults rather than the faults of other people."

A small group: they are the ones who carry convictions for this religion. An even smaller group from this group, are the ones who flee from this worldly life in order to act upon these convictions. And an even smaller group from this elite group, are the ones who sacrifice their souls and their blood in order to bring victory to these convictions and ambitions. So they are the cream of the cream of the cream."

Sheikh Abdullah Azzam further said "It is not possible to reach glory except by traversing this Path. It is not possible for the structures of this Deen to be established, nor for its banner to be raised, nor for its vessel to be launched, except by traversing this Path. This Path is one: the Blessed Path of Jihad."

Every day Muslim men, women, and children join the ranks of anonymous martyrs. Their stories will never surface in our media, but they will feature in the annals of truth that will unfold on the Day of judgement. I mourn the suffering of these brothers and sisters, but I do not fear for their ultimate outcome. Rather, I fear for the Muslims who stand aside as the war against Islam rages on. May Allah give us the clarity in knowledge and courage in deeds to defend our fellow Muslims.

assalaamu alaikum

There is an unforgettable story involving Abdullah ibn Jahsh and his friend Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas concerning an incident that took place during the Battle of Uhud. Let us leave Sa'd to tell the story:

During the battle, Abdullah came to me and said, "Aren't you making a dua to God?"

"Yes," said I. So we moved aside and I prayed, "O Lord, when I meet the enemy, let me meet a man of enormous strength and fury. Then grant me victory over him that I might kill him and acquire spoils from him." To this my prayer, Abdullah said Ameen and then he prayed:

"LET ME MEET A MAN OF GREAT STANDING AND ENORMOUS FURY. I SHALL FIGHT HIM FOR YOUR SAKE, O LORD, AND HE SHALL FIGHT ME. HE SHALL TAKE ME AND CUT OFF MY NOSE AND EARS AND WHEN I MEET YOU ON THE MORROW YOU WILL SAY, "FOR WHAT WERE YOUR NOSE AND EAR CUT OFF?" AND I WOULD REPLY, "FOR YOUR SAKE AND FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR PROPHET." AND THEN YOU WOULD SAY, "YOU HAVE SPOKEN THE TRUTH . . ."Sa'd continues the story:

The prayer of Abdullah ibn Jahsh was better than mine. I saw him at the end of the day. He was killed and mutilated and in fact his nose and his ear were hung on a tree with a thread.

No mention was made of them. They came from near and far, young and old, rich and poor, and they traveled to Bosnia. These people were the foreign

And the Hűr are on my right hand side

And like an Angel I sing in Paradise and with its rivers theirin...
These gardens are my resting place, and they are irrigated through my wounds
Like magic, and ease, and rest, O heart! What is this rest? (he is amazed at his station such that he questions his heart)
Surrounding me are the Prophets, and my martyred brothers,
And Allâh expounds on us shades of charming love.

The Light fills my eyes...
And the Hűr are on my right hand side

In the Paradise of Allâh I am given life, comparable to a thousand and one worlds
And I did not wish for anything, except that it came to me swiftly (In Paradise)
So do not say we have lost those who disappeared [martyrs] despite us not wanting them to disappear.
If there was indeed a loss in the âkhirah, then is it not best to lose me?

The things and people of this Dunya are but a test for me.
How can I settle for them? Above the companionship of the Prophets, the Shuhaada and the truthful.

A bedouin came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) and after accepting Islam expressed his wish to accompany him in the expedition. The Prophet (Peace be upon him) asked some of his companions to take care of him and settle his needs. When the Muslims captured one of the forts and won a large booty, the man had taken out a herd of cattle for grazing. The spoils were distributed among the combatants apportioning the Bedouin also of his share. When he was given his part, he took it to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) and asked, "What is this?" The Prophet (Peace be upon him) explained that it was his share of the booty of war, but he said, "I didn't come to you for it." Then pointing to his throat he continued, "I followed you hoping that I would be hit by an arrow, entitling me of Paradise." The Prophet (Peace be upon him) replied, "If you desire it so, God will do likewise."

Then, in a subsequent battle at Khaybar the Bedouin was among those killed in the encounter. The Prophet (Peace be upon him) asked, "Is it the same man?" When the companions replied in the affirmative, the Prophet (Peace be upon him) remarked, "He was true to God and God made his wish come true." The Prophet (Peace be upon him) shrouded his corpse with his own mantle and recited the funeral service for him. Thereafter, he said, "O Allah, thy servant had come to migrate in Thy way and was killed for Thy sake. I bear witness to it."

Battle of Yarmook

Both the armies confronted each other at Yarmook. The Roman General, Mahan, scornfully addressed his counterpart, Khalid bin Waleed (ra), and said:

“It looks as if poverty, nakedness and starvation has compelled you to come here. If you wish I am willing to give each of you ten dinars, expensive clothes and good food. You can take these things and leave. Next year too I can send you these things; you do not have to take the trouble to come here.”

Khalid bin Waleed (ra) was enraged at hearing these scornful and arrogant words, and answered:

“MAHAN LISTEN TO ME VERY CAREFULLY! YOU ARE MISTAKEN ABOUT THE REASON WHY WE ARE HERE. WE ARE PEOPLE WHO DRINK THE BLOOD OF OUR OPPONENTS. WE HAVE HEARD THAT ROMAN BLOOD IS VERY DELICIOUS, AND WE HAVE COME HERE TO ENJOY IT.”

A clear chill night around Kabul. Stars glimmered in the sky, and small mountains hemmed in the little valley. The fifty or so mujahideen sat in a low thatched hut. The oil burning lamp light reflected redly off the faces of the full bearded brothers, their eyes all on the amir. Everyone was hushed and straining to hear the next few words. This was Bayt-us-Shuhada, stationed in the heartlands of Kabul.

The amir was about to decide what was to happen next morning after Fajr. Either they would go out and in all probability be decimated, or they would have to find another way out, and they would obey their amir, under Deen, to shuhada or victory, as per the covenant with Allah.

There were around ten thousand of Dostum's communist vermin in front. Another five thousand of the shia tribes to the west, and with the latest betrayal, another ten thousand odd behind. Completely surrounded.

Guns boomed far away towards the center of Kabul, and suddenly a young boy spoke out. At fourteen, he was alone with these brothers in a country n

Sheikh Umar Abdul Rehman: "Shaykh Umar said: The prosecutor says that those who raise the
slogan that power is for God while they themselves want to monopolize
power have been described by Muslims and Islamic history as "Khawarij"
[old dissident sect of Islam]. Yes, "power is for God" are words that
were previously said by the noble son of Ishaq son of Ya'qub son of
Ibrahim: the prophet of God, Yusuf [biblical Joseph], who said those
words from his prison in Egypt. The prison's restrictions did not prevent
him from saying the words of truth, which were also said by other
prophets. Therefore, this is the call of Muslims throughout history. The
Khawarij said those words to the fourth orthodox caliph [Ali]. If these
words were said in the first age [of Islam], those who said them were
Khawarij. If they were said in this age, those who said them are
mujahidin."

My last word is for Muslims to stop sleeping and to shake off the stupor that engulfed their heads for so long, to remember the words of their Prophet to his wife: "O Khadijah! the time for sleep is over". They have to come up as one man, to work hard for their religion, to put Islam as their highest priority and never to forget it. If a person is concerned about an issue, he/she will sleep and wake up thinking about it. Let Muslims make Islam their issue. Let their hearts burn for what happens to Muslims, let them suffer for the Muslims in Bosnia, in Afghanistan, in Turkey, in the Philippines and before that in Palestine. Their hearts must ache to help those Muslims and cry for not doing their duty towards them. Muslims should care for their brothers and sisters everywhere, they should be concerned for the imprisoned and should try to get them released, to continuously demonstrate loudly, to write to everyone and to put the case of the imprisoned like myself in their issues and writings.
Muslims have also to continue the call to Allah (s.w.t), and never tire of it, to struggle relentlessly for the sake of Allah (s.w.t) and never to stop it. Should Muslims, God forbid, stop struggling for the sake of Allah, Allah will drown them in humiliation that He shall never remove until they go back to Jihad for the sake of Allah. And may Allah (s.w.t) shower His blessings and peace over our Prophet Muhammad s.a.w, his family, companions and his followers... Ameen. O People of manliness and brotherhood. O People of sacrifice and dignity. O Men of Allah! Rise up from your deep slumber. Rise up with your resounding voices. Set out, O Men of Allah, and let your voices be heard in every place, and say it with all your strength and loudly, without fear. Rise up, O Men of Allah and like one body, show the truth and negate the evil. 'And don't give in to those who aggress, lest the fire take hold of you.'
Prisons are far for scholars or criminals to sleep in? Death has surrounded my Ummah. Say Allaahu Akbar and tell death to live!.
'Who will wake up the nation that builds its nests on the winds, its feelings numbed and shows no reaction to plots? It is lost if its scholars fill up the cells like sheep. Aren't there courageous men who fear Allah? Aren't there strong words to throw the evil and shrink it? Rise up as one! Do not fear loss of income!.' At around the time of the Nairobi Embassy bombings a few years ago Sheikh Abu Qatada arranged a demonstration outside the US embassy for the release of Sheikh Omar Abdur Rahman from prison in the US. When only a few people turned up he was heard to say something along the lines of,

(translated from Arabic) There was a time when the people would be very happy if they managed to have a photograph taken with Sheikh Omar Abdur Rahman but today when you ask them to help him no one comes. Every man needs to look after himself and to Trust in Allah as when the time comes no one will be there for him.

How true this turned out to be even for Sheikh Abu Qatada himself who spoke the Word of Haq, was imprisoned and is helped by very of the thousands who new him. The latest that I’ve heard is that the Sheikh has gone from being around 140 kg at the time of his arrest to currently being around 82 kg. People work hard for gains in the duniya and when asked to help pay the legal fees of our imprisoned brothers to try to free them which is a duty on us as Muslims most go quiet. They forget that this wealth is a blessing from Allah (swt) so will we show gratitude to our Creator and Provider by spending it in His Cause and on those He has obliged us to?

O Allah help our mujahideen everywhere and those among Your slaves, our brothers who are imprisoned by Your enemies, and help us to fulfil the rights they have over us. Ameen.

This is a long quote/story but I love it as it highlights the immense courage of the PoW’s among the Sahaba as well as the great love the Sahaba (ra) held for such people. When ‘Abdullah bin Hathafah (ra) was captured by the Romans (19th Hijrah) and brought before Caesar….

When ‘Abdullah bin Hathafah (ra) was brought before the Emperor of Rome, he gave him a penetrating look and said:

“I have a plan.”

‘Abdullah asked him:

“What is your plan?”

He replied: “ I invite you to convert to Christianity. If you do so, I will free you and treat you with all due respect.”

‘Abdullah bin Hathafah (ra) answered boldly and resolutely: “This is absolutely impossible. I think it is a thousand times better to die than to accept your invitation.”

The Emperor said: “I think you are a brave man. If you accept my invitation, I am even ready to share the rule over my kingdom with you.”

The shackled prisoner smiled and answered: “By Allah! You need have no hopes that I will turn against Islam for a moment, even if you give me your kingdom plus the whole peninsula of Arabia!”

The Emperor was enraged and shouted that he would kill him. ‘Abdullah bin Hathafah (ra) answered calmly: “You can do whatever you please.’’

The Roman Emperor ordered that he be put to death. He instructed that his feet should be fettered and he should be chained. Arrows were to be shot at him so as to pierce his palms. After this was done, Caesar again invited him-for a third time-to accept Christianity. Again ‘Abdullah bin Hathafah (RA) refused to accept Christianity. Finally, Caesar ordered that a huge cauldron be placed on a fire and ‘Abdullah bin Hathafah (ra) be brought down from the stake. When the oil started to boil, he ordered that two of the Muslim prisoners be brought. When they were presented before him, he ordered that one of them should be thrown into the boiling oil. The moment he was thrown in his flesh began to separate from his bones.

Again he turned his attention towards ‘Abdullah bin Hathafah (ra) and asked him:

“Even now you have a chance to accept Christianity.”

But he refused him more forcefully than before. Caesar had no other choice now but to order that he too be thrown into the boiling cauldron. When he was brought near the oil, his eyes filled with tears and brimmed over. When Caesar’s men saw this, they told him that the prisoner was crying. Caesar thought that it must be due to sheer panic. Caesar said: “Bring him to me.”

When he was brought to Caesar, he again invited him to Christianity. But, ‘Abdullah bin Hathafah (ra) refused again!

Surprised, Caesar asked, “Then why did you cry?” ‘Abdullah (ra) replied:

“When I saw the scene I felt sorry that I had only one life. I wished that I had a thousand lives to sacrifice in your boiling cauldron for Allah (swt).”

Caesar was stunned momentarily into silence when he heard this. Finally he said:

“All right I will release you if you kiss my forehead.”

‘Abdullah bin Hathafah (ra) asked him: “Will you release the other Muslim prisoners as well?”
He says in his report of the incident that he was thinking to himself, it would not be too big a price to pay for the release of so many captured Muslims. Then approaching Caesar he kissed him on his forehead. Keeping to his promise, Caesar ordered that the prisoners be given into the custody of ‘Abdullah bin Hathafah (ra). As soon as he got his freedom, ‘Abdullah bin Hathafah (ra) went to ‘Umar bin Khattab (ra) and narrated to him all that had happened. ‘Umar bin Khattab (ra) was very happy and said:

“Every Muslim owes a duty to ‘Abdullah bin Hathafah (ra) and it is compulsory that each of us should kiss his forehead. I will kiss him first.”

Then he took the lead and kissed ‘Abdullah bin Hathafah (ra) on his forehead.

“Come back to your Lord, well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing (unto Him)!” (89:28).

Dr Sheikh Omar Abdur-Rahman

Confronting The Ruler

“And do not incline to those who do wrong, or the fire will touch you...” (Surah Hud, ayah 113)

O stranger of truth, amidst the cry to falsehood, and the deserted ones who are few when they are many. Many are those who have accepted falsehood, who are pleased with humiliation, who are happy with a peaceful life; for such there is nothing except positions in the dunya (world) and praise of the ruler. As for those who have refused submission, except to Allah (subhannah wa ta'ala), coming out openly with the word of truth, being punished for it with every oppression, making their lives expendible as a result of it, how few are they? How few are they who have sold their souls to Allah (subhannah wa ta'ala), sacrificing the delights of this world and its false comfort.

The submissive ones from the people of Egypt bade farewell to the tyrant Jamal ‘Abdul Naasir to the garbage can of history; overflowing with sadness for him. Everything was clothed in black - the houses, the pillars, and the streets - sad with the death of the one who had perished. Amidst all these cries, the fatwa (legal verdict) of Sheikh Omar Abdur-Rahman was reverberating - ‘As-Salah (Prayer) is not valid for ‘Abdul Naasir because he is a kafir’. Just as this fatwa was echoing due to its strength, it was similarly a powerful blow to the regime. The Sheikh was arrested and put in Al-Qal’ah prison, and thus began a series of confrontations with the people of oppression and custodians of the government of Egypt; he confronted Sadat and firmly announced that there can be no peace with the Jews. When Sadat was killed, the Sheikh was arrested again and tortured; even though the Sheikh is blind, he was beaten and electrocuted. He was forbidden medical treatment and food needed for his diseases since he is diabetic and suffers from high blood pressure. The Sheikh was then tried in what came to be known as the ‘Case of the Assassination of Sadat and Jihad’. The Sheikh stood like a lion and remained unconcerned about the noose dangling around his neck. His words confronted the judge as he said:

“In the presence of my 'aqeedah (creed) and my conscious, I am called upon to repel oppression, to refute the misconceptions and errors, to uncover the deviations and digressions, and to expose the oppressors in front of the people even if that costs me my life and my possessions... I am a Muslim; I live for my deen and I die in its path. And the situation does not permit me to keep silent whilst Islam is being fought in every place, or that I stay calm whilst the waves of shirk (associating partners with Allah (subhannah wa ta'ala)) and misguidance are striking and surging in every direction:
«Or as darkness on an ocean. He is covered by a wave, above which is a wave, above which is a cloud. Layer upon layer of darkness. When he holds his hand out he can hardly see it. And he for whom Allah has not appointed light, for him there is no light.»

How can I be gentle whilst the tyrants increase in arrogance and insolence:
«They desire for you to compromise so they could compromise.»

No and never shall we be pleased with the rule of tyrants, we shall never live with the rule of men - those who are high-handed with the people, humiliate them, and make them serve others besides Allah (subhannah wa ta'ala)...

This deen does not and will never die, and if it were to die, it would have died the day it was confined and pursued in Makkah, and its time was like that of a newly-born or a small seedling, but it survived and grew to be towering.

This deen does not and will never die, and if it were to die, it would have died the day its Messenger was expelled alone and isolated; none was with him but his Lord and his companions, yet he migrated, gathered the Muhajireen (Emigrants from Makkah to Madinah) and Ansaar (Helpers and residents of Madinah) around him, formed the Islamic state, and strengthened its might.

This deen does not and will never die, and if it were to die, it would have died the day Madinah was beseiged in the Battle of the Trench, when there came upon them from above and below, when eyes grew wild and hearts reached to the throats, and they imagined various thoughts concerning Allah (subhannah wa ta'ala), but it endured, raised high its flag, and reached wherever the night and day reach...

O ‘ Chief Justice of the Supreme Court’, the proof has been established and the truth has become visible, as clear as daylight for the one who has eyes; it is your duty to rule with the Sharee’ah of Allah (subhannah wa ta'ala), and to implement the laws of Allah (subhannah wa ta'ala); if you do not do so, then you are a kafir (disbeliever), Thaalim (oppressor), and fasiq (evil-doer) for the words of Allah (subhannah wa ta'ala) will have proven true concerning you:
«Whoso does not judge by that which Allah has revealed: such are disbelievers.» «Whoso does not judge by that which Allah has revealed: such are oppressors.» «Whoso does not judge by that which Allah has revealed: such are evil-doers.»

And the rule is not limited to this court-room, or in this world, but the rule ends its command in the aakhirah (hereafter), where Allah (subhannah wa ta'ala) will judge with justice:
«One day the earth will be changed to a different earth, and so will be the heavens, and they will be marshalled forth, before Allah, the One, the Irresistible»

And we do not fear prison, nor execution, and nor are we frightened by torture or injury, but we say what the magicians said to Fir’awn (Pharoah):
«We will never choose you above the clear proofs that have come unto us, and above Him Who created us. So decree what you will decree, for you can only decree (touching) the life of this world.»

And O ‘Chief Justice of the Supreme Court’, know that Allah (subhannah wa ta'ala) sent down hudood (punishments) to deter from vice, so what if those who are supposed to prevent it, become involved in it themselves? And that Allah (subhannah wa ta'ala) sent down qisas (retribution) as life for his slaves, so if they are murdered, who will retribute for them?

And O ‘Chief Justice of the Supreme Court’, remember death and what happens after it when your attendants and helpers will be few, so prepare for it and its aftermath with great fear.

O ‘Chief Justice of the Supreme Court’, know that you have a station other than the station at which you are now, during which your period of stay will be long, you will be separated from your beloved ones, and you will be delivered to your abode, lonely and isolated, so prepare for that which will accompany you:
«A day when man will flee from his brother, from his mother and his father, and from his wife and his child.»

And remember when the contents of the graves are poured forth, and that which is (locked up) in (human) breasts is made known, then the secrets will emerge, and the Book does not leave out anything, small or big, except that it has recorded it. As for now, you are in ease before your time expires, and your hopes are cut off. Do not judge between the slaves of Allah (subhannah wa ta'ala) with the laws of the ignorant, nor make them follow the path of the oppressors, , nor impose the arrogant over the weak, else you will bear your burdens and burdens in addition to your burdens.

Do not look to your power today, but look to your power tomorrow when you will be enthralled in the web of death, and you will stand in front of Allah (subhannah wa ta'ala) in an assembly of angels, Prophets, and Messengers, and faces will humble themselves before Al-Hayy (the Living), Al-Qayyum (the Eternal), and he who bears wrongdoing will indeed be a failure.

O ‘CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE SUPREME COURT’, THE RIGHT OF ALLAAH IS MORE BINDING THAN THE RIGHT OF THE HEAD OF THE REPUBLIC; AND ALLAAH HAS MORE RIGHT TO BE OBEYED SINCE THERE IS NO OBEDIENCE TO THE CREATION IN DISOBEDIENCE TO THE CREATOR! EXAMINE THEIR ORDERS AND BOOKS WITH THE BOOK OF ALLAAH AZZA WA JAL (MIGHTY AND MAJESTIC); WHATEVER YOU FIND AGREEING WITH THE BOOK OF ALLAAH, TAKE, AND WHATEVER YOU FIND CONTRADICTORY, FLING!

O ‘Chief Justice of the Supreme Court’ fear Allah (subhannah wa ta'ala), for indeed the messenger from the Lord of the Worlds is about to come to you, who will remove you from your chair, and take you out from the expanse of your palace to the narrowness of your grave. Then you will leave your authority and your dunya behind your back, be brought to your Lord, and then fall back upon your actions...

O ‘Chief Justice of the Supreme Court’ death is a pursuer which does not grow weary of its pursuit, it does not make a mistake, nor fail in its appointment, the staunch one cannot weaken it, the fugitive cannot escape from it, and remembrance of the convulsions during death is enough to make the limbs tremble. Death is that which brings the giant to the ground with the same ease with which it brings the dwarf down; the people of authority are overcome by it just as the people of subjugation are overcome. It is like a mill-stone which revolves around the creation; a cup of it passed around them - every one with a soul must drink of it and experience its taste. It is the demolisher of enjoyment, the spoiler of lusts; death is that which splits the loved ones, and it continues in its path, it does not stop and it does not care; it does not respond to the cries of the overwhelmed and worried, to the sorrow of the separated ones, to the wishes of the one who wishes, nor to the fear of the frightened. Death is no delight for men, and yet they do not reflect on the strength of this subduer which keeps on.

What then will be of you O ‘Chief Justice of the Supreme Court’ when the humiliator of kings, defeater of oppressors, and breaker of tyrants reaches you and throws you to the ground between your beloved ones and bystanders, cleaving your household and your fellow men, who will have no power to benefit or defend you.

O ‘Chief Justice of the Supreme Court’ Allah (subhannah wa ta'ala) forbids you from the government, and the government does not forbid you from Allah (subhannah wa ta'ala), and the order of Allah (subhannah wa ta'ala) is above every order, for there is no obedience in disobedience to Allah (subhannah wa ta'ala), so I warn you of His force, that which is not held back from the people of wrongdoings.

O ‘Chief Justice of the Supreme Court’, the account is right behind you, whiplash for whiplash, anger for anger, and Allah (subhannah wa ta'ala) is on the look-out.”

The words of the Sheikh shook the court-room, for he announced the word of truth in the most gloomiest of places. The Sheikh was acquitted and left the prison to join his da’wah and jihad; he did not lose courage, neither did he compromise nor did he keep silent.

He left Egypt and traversed the world following the footsteps of Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal and Ibn Taymiyyah. He eventually arrived in the USA, the chief of kufr (disbelief), the crusade, and the 'new world order'. Still he gave the good news of the demise of the tyrants in the east and west, and the emergence of the dawn of Islam which will rip the mulberry leaf of American ‘democracy’.

Sheikh Omar Abdur-Rahman became the symbol of jihad and a model for the youth who search for a mujahid scholar.

Currently the Sheikh is in prison in the USA, serving a life sentence. We ask Allah (subhannah wa ta'ala) to save the Sheikh and keep him as a symbol of jihad and sacrifice, and to produce from his progeny those who will openly speak the truth.

" Never shall I leave the Land of Jihad, except in three circumstances. Either I shall be killed in Afghanistan. Either I shall be killed in Peshawar. Or either I shall be handcuffed and expelled from Pakistan..........

The popular Jihad movement with its long path of effort, great sacrifice and serious losses purifies souls so that they tower above the lower material world. Important matters rise above petty disputes about money, short-term desires and inferior provisions. Malice disappears and souls are sharpened; and the caravan moves on up from the foot of the mountain to the lofty summit, far away from the stench of clay and the struggles of the low ground. Along the path of Jihad, the leadership is categorised. Abilities become manifest from the offerings and sacrifices, and men come forth with bravery and service. Do not think glory to be a wine-skin and songstress, For glory can come only through war and severe fighting. When important matters are the only concern, souls are uplifted above minor issues, and important things occupy people's hearts and hopes. When you embark on an honourable venture. Be not content with aiming below the stars. For the taste of death in a paltry matter is like the taste of death in a significant matter. The cowards will see cowardice as reason. And that is the treachery of the depraved disposition. The nature of societies is precisely that of water; In stagnant water, water moss and decayed matter float on the surface, whereas flowing water will not carry scum on its surface. Similarly, the leadership of a stagnant society cannot fulfil its responsibility because leadership emerges only through movement, sacrifice, service and offering...............

The ummah which performs Jihad pays a high price, and so it harvests ripe fruits. It is not easy to lose something which was won through sweat and blood. Those who sit at the helm of leadership of people by the power of the first announcement of a military revolution accomplished behind the scenes in one of the offices of mediation can easily lose everything. Whoever seized a land without fighting. It is easy for him to give it up. The ummah of Jihad, which is led by extraordinary people who emerged through the long Jihad movement, will not easily lose command, nor serve as easy prey for collapse. It is also not easy for its enemies to make it have suspicions about its heroes' excursions. The Jihad movement familiarises the ummah with all its individuals, informing them that they have contributed to the price paid, and have participated in the sacrifice for the establishment of the Islamic community. Thus they will be trustworthy custodians of this newborn community which has relieved the whole ummah from the agony of its labor-pains. Without a doubt, the Islamic community will be born, but birth cannot be accomplished without labor, and with labor there must be pain..................

Yes, allowing Muslims to be slaughtered while the only thing that we do is to offer them lip-service from a distance and rub our hands together without taking even one step towards elevating the suffering of Muslims. "Perhaps a woman might utter "O Mu'tasim! And such cries fill the mouths of the orphans, Her cry has reached the ears of the people, But she has not touched the dignity of any like Al-Mu'tasim!" [As-Shaheed Shaykh Abdullah Azzam (rahimahullah)in his book - "Join The Caravan.”

Assalaamu Alaikum,
here is one from Moulana Masood Azar:

We are from that brave Ummah [nation] that accounts for every drop of blood. We are the Ummah of Muhammad [Sal-Allaahu 'alayhe wa sallam] who know how to die in honour; who know how to be killed in the name of Islam.

Atel Bihari! You worshipper of cows! You lower your head to Ram and Sita. O worshipper of Monkeys! We are worshippers of the true Rabb [Allah] and have faith in him.

As the late Sheikh Hamoud Al-Uqlaa Ash-Shuaibi (may Allah have Mercy on him) of the Arabian Peninsula said in his fatwa regarding the 9/11 Operation:

"Let us not, also, forget that it is permissible for us to treat non-Muslims similar to the way they treated us; and in this there is a reply and clear proof to all those who repeat the words "innocent victims", because Allah the Exalted has made that. Among the texts on that: 'Thus, if you retaliate, retaliate with what equals the aggression afflicted upon you.' [Quran 16:126]

and Allah (SWT)also said: '...and those whom, when an aggression afflicts them, they revenge, but the reward of an evil is an evil equal to it.'"

As for those who say that the people inside the Twin towers were ‘innocent’, Sheikh Hammod had this stark warning:

"Whoever says that there are 'innocent victims' without any differentiation between their categories, must accept that he is accusing the Prophet (SAWS) and the Companions and those after them that they killed ‘innocent victims’, according to them! That is because the Prophet (SAWS) used the Catapult in his war against Ta'if, and it is the nature of the Catapult that it does not differentiate between its victims."

"Furthermore, how dare these 'Modern' Muslims call all those who worked in the World Trade Center "innocent victims"? Have these people no shame, do they not see that the money generated by the World Trade Center bought the bullets that shredded 10 year old Maria Abu Sarees whilst she was playing in her bedroom? Do they not see that the WTC financed the tank that repeatedly drove over the face of 14 year old Anwar Hamdona crushing it and severing his friend's, Ismail Abu Nadi's body in half; and donated the F-16 fighter jets and Apache helicopter Gunships which mercilessly rain down missiles on Palestine? Are these 'Modern' Muslims blind to this? Are they blind to the undeniable fact that over the past fifty years the U.S. has given Israel $94,966,300,000 to pursue its policy of exterminating the Palestinians. This aid is given with the full blessing of the ‘democratic’ American people, who have ‘democratically’ elected their Government, who not only support Israeli policy towards the Palestinians but ardently support it! Let us, for a moment, place to one side America's killing of Iraqis, Sudanese, Somalis and Libyans to name but a few, and focus on this staggering figure of military aid. Is this $94,966,300,000 not enough of a reason for the Mujahideen to fight America? No it is not. Rather it is 94,966,300,000 reasons to fight America."

As for the saying of those who sit back from Jihad that the period is one of ‘preparation’ not battle, there is a simple reply..........

...... It is to say to them that the unassuming men who destroyed the Soviet Union by the Grace of Allah, did not go - Praise be to Allah - through this ‘preparation’ at all!
Then we ask them, do you not know that Palestine has been occupied for more than eighty years? Do you not know that the Islamic Caliphate fell at about the same time? Do you not know that the Islamic world has been under Western influence for more than a century? What was your ‘preparation’ during those long decades?
Then we also ask them, until when do we wait for you to finish ‘preparing’? Another hundred years?
Then we further ask ourselves, what is the actual effort that you have put forward while your hairs turned grey in humiliation. What ‘preparation’ has been made for fighting the enemies of Islam? Or is your share from the ‘preparation’ to defame and slander the Mujahideen? Or is it making the Muslim Nation despair of Jihad and making peace with the oppressive sinful Rulers? Is this your Jihad in your opinion?
IN REALITY, THE MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE PEOPLE REGARDING THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE ‘PREPARATION’ AND WAR ARE THE PEOPLE OF JIHAD. THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO ARE IMPLEMENTING IT PRACTICALLY. THIS IS BECAUSE IN THIS FIELD OF JIHAD, THEY ARE THE PEOPLE OF IJTIHAAD (ISLAMIC JURISPRUDENCE REASONING), WHICH MAKES THEM THE FOREMOST PEOPLE TO GIVE ISLAMIC RULINGS (FATWA’S). THEY ARE THE SCHOLARS WHO ARE PRACTICALLY LIVING THE REALITIES OF THESE CURRENT AFFAIRS, AND THIS MAKES THEM MOST SUITABLE FOR FATWA’S (ISLAMIC RULING’S), AS PROVEN BY THE GREAT SCHOLAR OF ISLAM, IBN TAYMIYAH, MAY ALLAH HAVE MERCY ON HIM, IN HIS BOOK (FATAWA KUBRA).
WHILE SOME OF THESE PEOPLE HAVE TAKEN THIS ‘PREPARATION’, WHICH IS IN REALITY A WAY TO GATHER MILITARILY FORCE AND CONSOLIDATE IT’S STRENGTH, TO SOMETHING THAT HAS BECOME A HINDRANCE TO THE WAY OF JIHAD.

"For the American soldiers, we say, that you have to know that your government has become a big evil, killing innocent people, destroying homes, stealing our money and holding our sons in jail.

We promise that we will not let you live safely and you will not see from us anything else just bombs, fire, destroying homes, cutting your heads.

Our mujahideen is coming to you very soon to let you see what you didn't see before."

(from Hazim bin Muhammad Kashmiri (rh)-Shaheed of Riyadh).

"....We want from all Christians and Jews to go out from our Islamic countries and to release our brothers from jails and stop killing Muslims or we will kill you as you are killing Muslims.

We will continue in our fighting until we get what we want. The real Muslims they mean what they say. Very soon all the world will see what we will do. You will not enjoy your life forever. Wa'izzatu lillahi wal Islam."

(from Muhammad bin Abdul Wahaab Al-Maqeet (rh)-Shaheed of Riyadh).

Assalam alaikum
I'd like to start a new thread There has been a lot of talk by some of the shuyukh from where i come from that martydom operations are counter productive in that after such many muslims are arrested and tortured muslim organisations such as those helping the orphans etc are shutdown and legislation that make life "miserable" for muslims are passed muslim businesses closed down their wealth confiscated etc all this on top of the harm being inflicted on the muslims. The solution they give is "do daawah to the kuffar show them True Islaam as opposed to the media image and once a substancial number have accepted then w e can change the govt by "any means neccesary"such operations they say do not change the status quo "for the better"
What do you guys think?

"The fatwa of any official Aalim has no value for me. History is full of such Ulema who justify Riba, who justify the occupation of Palestine by the Jews, who justify the presence of American troops around Harmain Sharifain. These people support the infidels for their personal gain. The true Ulema support the Jihad against America. Tell me if Indian forces invaded Pakistan what would you do? The Israeli forces occupy our land and the American troops are on our territory. We have no other option but to launch Jihad."

- al-Mujaahid Usamah bin Laden (hafizahullah), in reply to Hamid Mir's question:
"The head of Egypt's Jamia Al-Azhar has issued a fatwa (edict) against you, saying that the views and beliefs of Osama bin Laden have nothing to do with Islam. What do you have to say about that?"

in the homes of Shamyl's descendents in Istanbul and Madina, in flats whose walls are still adorned with the faded banners of black, mothers sing to their children words which will be remembered for as long as Muslims live in Chechenya and Daghestan:

O mountains of Gounib,
O soldiers of Shamyl
Shamyl's citadel was full of warriors,
Yet it has fallen, fallen forever ..
