HELPING HOUSEHOLDS UNDER GREAT STRESS
Since 9/11, over 600 Muslims have been arrested on terrorism charges. Some have been released without charge. However, 12 Muslim foreign nationals and a number of British Muslims have been 'buried in concrete' in Britain's Guantanamo Bay: Belmarsh and Woodhill prisons.
For every arrest and detention, a home has been raided and ravaged and a family has suffered the loss of a loved one, a bread winner, a dear husband. a much loved son. These are homes where Ramadhan will not quite be how it used to.
For many of these families, daily tasks have become difficult, they are struggling to make ends meet and transport to visit their loved ones is infrequent. On top of this, their community has shunned them, so they experience great loneliness and lack any emotional support.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Hhugs (Helping Households Under Great Stress) has been set up with these families in mind. We aim to establish a base of volunteers in different parts of London who can give practical and emotional support to such families. We hope to provide such services as:
Houshold help
Childcare
Help dealing with media
Help dealing with laywers and police
Transport
Emotional Support
Hhugs is looking for VOLUNTEERS all over London.
Please contact hhugs_2004@yahoo.co.uk or 07931 833980 if you are able to help.
