As-salamu alaykum,
I am new to this forum and indeed, Islam. I have been asked to submit an essay entitled:
'In what sense does the notion of Islamic Monotheism (al-Tawhid) provide a theological construct that unifies the Global Muslim community?'.
Having read some of the discussions and debates on this forum, I am well aware that the knowledge of some of its members far surpasses mine. Briefly considering the topic, I look to the contemporary Muslim world and fail to see the unity that the question suggests. Perhaps I am wrong. If anyone can shed some light on the issue I would be very grateful. In particular, I am interested in the factionalism and irreconcilable differences of opinion amongst the sects which claim to be Muslims.
May Allah the Almighty and Exalted, reward your efforts.
Your brother in Islam.
