salamu alaykum
Im confused with all this kalam. I dont know how to advance my knowledge. I wanted to choose with should i study with 'Traditional muslim' (those upon tasawwuf , and who follow a madhab and follow either maturidi or ashari aqidah) or should I study with the Salafiyah (and we know who they are)
It seems if i affirm Hand for Allaah in the LLITERAL sense saying its haqiqi (real hand) then im affirming LIMB yet i heard that we NEGATE that its a LIMB so if we negate a LIMB this is not the real meaning of Hand and we end up contradicting ourselves
Then we have groups like maturidi and ashariyah such as the asharis who wont affirm anger and pleasure for Allaah while maturidi affirms it for Allaah and it seems they contradict eachother.
Im at lost also with spirituality im told that we should follow the way of Tasawwuf which is dhikr , following a shaykh and taking a path with guidance just like science of jurisprudence while with the salafi crowd there was none of that instead when i talk to brothers in person they were very harsh with me and made it seem like they always criticized eachothers and had bad manners and i know you dont judge all salafiyah like this but the majority of salafis ive come accross are like this and my imaan did not increase.
but same with these sufis i see that the sufiyah though theya re nice mannered they have concepts i dont understand and right now i dont know how to advance rather studying with traditional muslims or Salafees
Any advice?

Asalaam alaikum, brother confusion comes due to ignorance. Seek knowledge of your deen and implement it. Go study with some scholar and at the same time ask Allah all mighty to guide you to the Haqq that he sent our beloved Rasool Allah with.
We are living in times of confusion. Until you gain knowledge and are at a scholarly level yourself, only then will the things become clearer. Until then only take from and study with a scholar that provides evidence from the Qur'an and Sunnah. This scholar should also have Isnaad and should be of good character and piety.
Allah won't ask you whether you were an Ashari or Maturudi etc. Be sincere to him and supplicate him and He will guide you.
I would advise you to stay away from forums and the net if you are getting confused as it won't help.

wa alaykum assalam
if u want to understand salafiyyah correctly u have to study under a knowledgable shaikh in the field, meaning if u want to study aqeedah study it under a Salafi shaikh who is knowledgable in aqeedah.
getting ur knowledge from the internet is not good, because false things are spread about salafiyyah on the internet, and u will only understand it and get it correctly through studying the books of scholars and with a scholar, not only the book, becuse the scholar will clearify it for u more, and make u understand it correctly.
also, learn the Arabic language if u don't know Arabic, it is very important for every student of knowledge to learn the Arabic language if they are able to, becuase some translations don't really give u the full meanign or u might even find some text mistranslated.

Wa alaykumusalaam .
You might be feeling confused because you are not moving at a pace in your knowledge that suits you, try to slow down a bit over issues that your having trouble in.
Dont go to the extremes from any of the two groups you have mentioned.
I feel that the brothers here have explained the asmat wa sifaat sufficently. Choose that path then pray istiqaarah. All this confusion is from the shaytan, seek refuge from him at all times.
May Allaah guide you and all of us ameen

If you continually feel confused, perhaps it’s time to broaden your views.

yes im thinking about not learning from forums. Since there can be personal opinions and all sorts of ideals thrown around. I rather now just study books from the Ulama and inshaallah hopefully study with some local people of knowledge and learn my grammar and comprehension of arabic so i can study classical works on aqidah.

stay away from books influenced by greek philosophy.
learn ur aqeedah step by step, don't rush into things, and don't jump right away into issue of sifat, start with first step which is tawhid... and u will learn every part of it step by step.
and start with short books, not too detailed, then after understanding that good, you go to more detailed books, so start simple.
and take advice from scholars.
and by the way, brother Abu Az-Zubair is good, he is student of knoweldge who has good knowledge of aqeedah, so in ur studies, you can come here evey once in a while if u have some questions.
and like the sister said, u are confused because u jump into too many issues at one time, if u asked about the general priniple regarding sifat first, would have been more correct and easier for u to understand.
then after understandign it, u could have asked one issue at a time, and not go into another issue until understanding the first one.
Asking about many issues at one time is incorrect.
also u should explain to the person whom ur asking if ur a beginner student and if u need simplified short answers or more detailed ones.
because if your kind of new to the issue of sifat , then going into too many details might couse confusion and u won't understand it.

Youre an idiot.
Uuuu, a great one-liner. Did you think of it yourself or did you have help?
If you have something intelligent to say, than say it, otherwise kindly shut up.
