Salaam,

I find it really funny how all the salafees jump onto becoming anti-aristotelians when they have no idea abut aristotle. The way they make it look is as if they know the guy inside out and they have refuted him, twice over.

Ibn Taymiyyah Wannabes

you cheeky monkey... Ibn Taymiyya Wanabes are better than Aristotle Wannabes... ;)

Where have you disappeared to? No email, call or nothing... shame on you, is this how you treat your Shaykh? (and did you ever get to finish al-'Udda?) Oh, and I also heard you've been spreading some nasty things about me...

looks like you guys seem to know each other offline.

I must admit, Aristotle must have been a genius along with his teachers and student, to have an entire modern civilisation based on his philosophy. But surely, as IT said, their expertise are limited to the world we see.

Assalamu alaikum wr wb.

Nah, Actually his civilisation was brought to destruction by Allah(swt).

Unfortunetly some muslims in history has adopted his & greek methodology and applied it the Quran and some parts to the sunnah.

If you have come across his works, you can see a stark resemblance between his work and some work in Islamic literature from those who have adopted it.

I am sure if you did some research or even a search on this forum, you can't miss it.

Moderation is itself a symbol for balance and virtue and is a sought after quality in everyone's estimation. Virtue is the middle ground between two extremes of vice. This was Aristotle's view and it has been upheld by the scholars of Islam like al-Ghazālī, Ibn Taymiyah, Ibn al-Qayyim, and others. It is one of the meanings of "the middle nation" mentioned in the Qur'ān:

Shaykh Salman al-Oadah

Yes, this comes from Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nichomachean_Ethics) where he details his conception of virtue and moral character. For example, he said the one should have the correct pride about one's self. One should not be arrogant on one hand, nor should one debase and humiliate himself on the other. Another he mentions is that one should be courageous and brave, but avoid being the extremes of recklessness or cowardice. This is what Shaykh Salman was referring to. Not a bad concept.

Aristotle's metaphysics, well that is something else entirely.
