assalaamu alaykum,

i've been wondering what do scholars like ibn baaz and uthaymeen (RAH) and those that are alive today, that studied hanbali fiqh, proclaim themselves as? hanbali or salafi? i also ask that, as i have a book from sa'uudiyyah by ibn baaz (RAH) and in the "King Fahd national library" publication data section it says:

1 - al-ibaadaat: (fiqh islaami)
2 - al-fiqh al-hanbali

i hope someone could kindly clarify this hanbali/salafi connection in shaa Allah?

The scholars do not proclaim themselves as anything but humble servants of Allah who are striving to adhere to the path of Allah's Messenger.

The scholars of the da'wah in Najd are Hanbalis in bulk, and they do not need to proclaim so.

Salafi is a more general term than Hanbali, in the sense that most of the Hanbalis have always been Salafis, and many of the scholars from other madhabs have also been Salafis.
