Is an Infinite universe inconsistant with their being God? i.e no point of tiem the universe coming into being,

I understand that ALLAH CREATES eternally, but
If Allah was eternally creating, doesn't this put God out of existence?

It's scientificaly proven that Universe is not infinite, so you don't have to worry about this.

I think I answered that in the other thread?

Actually, some scientists today are rejecting the notion that the universe will 'crunch' again; so they technically believe that the universe will continue to expand infinitely.

very clever jinnzaman,

Your right mashAllah,

but thats not too much of a worry, because even with the big bang they can somehow ascribe eternity to teh universe, they have their ways, have you ever heard of eternal inflation?

The issue is not what science says, but rather, why science should be taken as an authoritative source of knowledge; the ultimate challenge between Islam and the West, aside from political challenges, is one of epistemology.

I think the Ashari and Maturidi schools can be useful in raising valid epistemological criticisms of science.

Actually, some scientists today are rejecting the notion that the universe will 'crunch' again; so they technically believe that the universe will continue to expand infinitely.
Based on observations of specific type of supernovae made in 1997 we now know that expansion of the Universe is actually accelerating, which negated previously accepted theories about the nature of the Cosmos.
New theories have been created since then, which involve complicated concepts, such as “dark energy”. Nature of dark energy is not well understood, but this concept is in accordance with the Einstein’s principles of relativity. There are currently two major theories about nature of this phenomenon, which are usually known as Einstein’s constant and Quintynesscence.

Under the first explanation, you may consider dark energy simply as cost of having space, energy that vacuum has simply by existing. Dark energy is anti-gravitational and grows as Universe is growing, making it expand faster and faster. If this theory is true, Universe will die in a “Big Rip”. First dark energy will tear gravitational forces that hold galaxies together and soon after the planetary systems will fall apart. As dark energy grows, it will overcome electro-magnetic forces that hold the atoms together. After that even the nuclear forces will be overpowered, causing atomic cores and nucleons to be ripped apart. All that will remain of matter will be photons and leptons who would quickly lose their energy. In the end, acceleration of the universe will become infinite. Time will effectively stop.
But don’t worry, this will not happen for at least 12 billion years.

Under the other theory, properties of the dark energy are not constant, but are in fact changing with other conditions. If this theory is true, it is for now impossible to tell how the Universe will end, because anti-gravitational properties of dark energy may change.
