Terror watch on Mecca pilgrims
David Leppard
THE intelligence agencies are monitoring every Muslim who travels from Britain to Mecca on pilgrimage in a wider effort to piece together intelligence on suspected Al-Qaeda terrorist activity.
A senior Whitehall official has disclosed that the operation targeting trips to the holy city in Saudi Arabia by more than 100,000 British Muslims is part of a trawl by MI5 and MI6 for information about movements of suspected terrorists. It follows evidence that British Islamic terrorists have visited the city before carrying out attacks in Britain and abroad.
The importance of the intelligence operation was one of the reasons given by spy chiefs for maintaining ties with Saudi Arabia when the Saudi government was threatening to break off intelligence ties over a bribery investigation by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) into BAE, Britain’s prime defence contractor.
Sir John Scarlett, the head of MI6, and Dame Eliza Manningham-Buller, the director-general of MI5, told Lord Goldsmith, the attorney-general, that Saudi co-operation in the fight against Al-Qaeda was vital.
A well-placed security official said Scarlett and Manningham-Buller used the Mecca surveillance operation as evidence of the need for continuing intelligence ties with the kingdom: “They made it clear to Goldsmith that they were concerned about the implications for national security of losing Saudi co-operation. They said that every British Muslim who makes the pilgrimage to Mecca was monitored.”
This weekend Muslim leaders voiced their unhappiness about the operation. Dr Ghayasuddin Siddiqui, leader of the Muslim parliament, said: “It is absolutely wrong that people who are going to Mecca for entirely religious purposes should be monitored by the security services. It is a sad commentary on Britain’s relations with Saudi Arabia.”
The Mecca operation is thought to have been launched after the July 7 London bombings. MI5 discovered that at least two of the suicide bombers had made the holy trip.

I think this shows how paranoid they are becoming.
To have a file on every pilgrim is such a futile project and a huge waste of taxpayers money .

its totally expected that security services should do this after 7/7 terrorist attacks. in fact, its understandable. they have been attacked by british born and bred muslims. no excuses this time with immigrant refugees or visitors....all 4 were brit born and bred. its a natural reaction. why should muslims be surprised at this.
u carry out attacks like this which bring no benefit at all, and then watch how the majority of muslims have to suffer. those 4 dead terrorists have left this life, only Allah swt knows where they r now, but we muslims in the UK have to deal with the left overs.
not that the kuffar need any excuse to hate or attack islam, that hatred would be in their nature, but to add fuel to the fire is just dumb. july 7 bombings were a total calamity for the muslims in the UK. they acheived nothing, a total failure.......the only thing it brought was more disaster for the muslims..........im surprised we muslims havent been interned YET in the UK.......

Taking our religion back one Muslim at a time
We believe in the re-interpretation of Islam for the 21st century where terrorism is not justified under any circumstances.
We believe in the separation of religion and state.
We believe that democracy is the best form of government.
We believe in the promotion of secularism in all forms of political activity.
We believe that equality for women is an inalienable right.
We believe that religion is a personal relationship between the individual and his or her God and is not to be forced on anyone. So behaviours like those happening in Al-haj are not acceptable at all and it's not gonna solve any moslims problems.

The plan of such militaristic Muslim organizations is exactly to deepen divisions between Muslims and others, creating fear and hatred toward the Muslims in general. They hope that anger will fill us to the point when we will fight anything Islamic. If such thing would happen, Muslims in our countries would naturally be the first to suffer. Those like you are meant to become martyrs (willing or otherwise) that would show to the rest of Muslim world that no peace is possible with kufr and motivate them to fight.
I just hope that our governments will stay true to their principles and not allow for mindless prosecution of Muslims to happen.
When it comes to ordinary men on the street, I fear that current situation has already negatively influenced their minds to some extent. I hope that this will not go any further.

I think this is an exercise in futilty. Every Muslim who is able-bodied and can afford it will go for Hajj (the pilgrimage) at least once in his lifetime, and every Muslim who wants to perform Umrah (smaller pilgrimage) will go as many times as he can. Think of the number of people they will be documenting and keeping an eye on. Absolutely stupid.
Tell me something. Has it been proved, beyond any element of doubt that the Muslims who have been considered guilty were actually guilty in the 7/7 incident? Or, is it just circumstantial evidence that is being relied on?
I know Muslims who have been to Makkah more than 100 times, and would never kill an innocent person, as they believe that killing one innocent person is like killing the whole of humanity.

Ermm, brother tell us how have you suffered? Have they cut your electricity supply? Or prevented water from coming through your taps? Maybe Heinz boycotted you and sell you no more baked beans?
I really like the quote bro Abuz Zubair used, Things are getting bad in the UK? Of course they are! They are supposed to get bad! This is how our ancestors made history, and this is how we will make history, too.
What do you think Islam is about? A bed of roses?!....
It seems your baatil rhetoric is repeated in the media. If you were really defending the haq your word would be different from that of the kuffaar.
We need to spread the deen sincerely like the sahaba radhi'allahu anhum did for the sake of allah swt, not fearing the blame of the blamers.
Allah swt says, "Or think you that you will enter Paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said, "When (will come) the Help of Allâh?" Yes! Certainly, the Help of Allâh is near!" 2.214.
And,
"Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: "We believe," and will not be tested.
And We indeed tested those who were before them. And Allâh will certainly make (it) known (the truth of) those who are true, and will certainly make (it) known (the falsehood of) those who are liars, (although Allâh knows all that before putting them to test)." 29.2-3.
And,
"Of mankind are some who say: "We believe in Allâh," but if they are made to suffer for the sake of Allâh, they consider the trial of mankind as Allâh's punishment, and if victory comes from your Lord, (the hypocrites) will say: "Verily! We were with you (helping you).
Is not Allâh Best Aware of what is in the breast of the 'Alamîn (mankind and jinns).Verily, Allâh knows those who believe, and verily, He knows the hypocrites [i.e. Allâh will test the people with good and hard days to discriminate the good from the wicked (although Allâh knows all that before putting them to test)].
And those who disbelieve say to those who believe: "Follow our way and we will verily bear your sins," never will they bear anything of their sins. Surely, they are liars.
And verily, they shall bear their own loads, and other loads besides their own, and verily, they shall be questioned on the Day of Resurrection about that which they used to fabricate.
" 29.10-13.
And Allâh has full power and control over His Affairs, but most of men know not.
wa sallem wa barak ala nabiyyina muhammed, walhamdulillahil-rabbil'aalameen.
