St Ethelburga's Centre & Dialogue with Islam Forum Present

ISLAM IN THE WEST - A NEW KIND OF CONVERSATION

Date: Tuesday 13th February 2007
Time: 7.00 pm - 9.30 pm
Venue: St Ethelburga’s Centre, 78 Bishopsgate, London, EC2N 4AG

Islam and the West - why do we have a problem with each other? Should
the West fear Islam? Why does the Muslim world resent the West? What
are the fundamental challenges to both Islamic and Western ways of
thinking and being that lie beneath the outer conflicts? A lively
participatory dialogue using the 'world cafe' model with Abu Muntasir
Ali (Chief Executive of JIMAS) and Dr Michael Ipgrave (Archdeacon of
Southwark). There is no need to book, just come along.

This discussion is part of an exciting and innovative new series of
events which aims to take an experimental approach to deepening the
dialogue between Muslims and non-Muslims in Britain. Moving away from
traditional meeting formats and making space for a wide spectrum of
beliefs and opinions, we invite maximum participation and seek to
draw on our collective wisdom. The aim here is to delve beneath the
surface issues, to explore the creative potential within these
difficulties, and to generate genuine and sustainable relationships
for the future, despite our differences. Whatever your views, you
are welcome to attend. Be prepared to listen and be heard!
