Assalaam'ualykum,

Just some quick things,

Some brother told me about Sh Salim al Amry's comments at a JIMAS conference. Theya re similar to what I will write.

This would be good advise to anyone that knows students of knowledge. By the way this is advise to abuz zubair too, not because he needs it, but because I feel its important for every talibul ilm to know and realise just in case they loose track.

Sometimes students of knowldge shy away from giving knowldge, they do this out of modesty, but how is this correct, theres no harm in having modesty, the problem is when people they go over the top such that they have hardly nothing to say on any issues.

whats the point of getting all that knoweldge if they don't share it. In the west Muslims need knowledge desperately, there is no time for being too modest since we are in a dire situation, there are many talibul ilm, but they don't try and do the dawah, they think people should go to them for knowldge, and not the other way round, this is wrong, they must GO and convey the knowledge.

More to come later

Very well said...

So much good is withheld from people because certain gems amongst us are too shy/modest to benefit the public.

Yet, we also have problems with the other extreme, and that is when the du'at become salesmen and self-promoters: I am this many years old, I started my education at this age and this uni, and studied with numerous renowned scholars, and received ijazas in a, b, c, d, e, etc...

If such person is true about his claims (which is rarely the case), then at least he has something to stand on. A greater problem amongst us is that those who promote themselves and push themselvs forward to give talks and lectures at every occasion are not even students... They are just avg joe bloggs seeking attention. It is these sort of people who did more damage to Salafiyya than the Sufis, Ash'aris and the modernists put together.

Balance is the magic word.
