In the fiqh of the ahnaaf, quite a few books have recently been translated...
Kitaabul Aathaar of Imam Abu Hanifah, al-Muwatta of Imam Muhammad and a (new) partial translation of al-Hidaayah.

Not sure... he praises Sh Muhammad b. 'Abd al-Wahhab and considers him to be one of the mujaddids, as far as I remember. Allah knows best. But in terms of fiqh and writing style, he is excellent.

Shaikh Wahba is an Ash'ari as far as I know. Although I have not read his book on Usul al-Din, I believe that he has written an introduction to one work in defense of the Ash'ari doctrine. Along with that, in some places in his Fatawa online (at his site), he answers questions with ending statements such as: ''khilafan lil wahhabiyah'', such as his Fatwa on group Dhikr.

i thought he would be ash'ari. he still has good works, i must admit...
could someone clarify the last point he makes in this fatwa:
ما هو رأيكم في حف وجه الرجل بالخيط ما عدا اللحيه والشارب؟
حف وجه الرجل بالخيط، وكذا المرأة حرام، لأنه النمص الذي لعن الله فيه صاحبه، ويجوز بغير الخيط.
^^so is he saying that removing the facial hair with something other than the thread (for example a tweezer) would be permissible for both men and women? or is he referring only to men when they remove facial hair by other means, such as shaving blades?

He may well be an Ash'ari, and he may well support some bida'i opinions, and he may well refer to the Hanbalis of Najd as 'Wahhabis', as he does in his article: Mujaddid al-Din fil-Qarn al-Thani 'Ashar - The Reviver of Religion in the 12th Century.
The entire book is full of praise and an explanation as to what the 'Wahhabi da'wah' is about.

Well, its no secret that even if he is an Ash'ari and is opposed to the ''wahhabis'' that he is a scholar of high standing and maturity. This is why he has a good relationship with scholars such as Shaikh Salah (and is a member of his AMJA fiqh group of North America that Shaikh Salah initiated).

It was difficult to get when I searched. I found a copy in Dar at-Tawqa in Melcombe Street, London. But that was years ago and it might be easier/more difficult to find now.
