Salamalaykoum
Are there some explicit and authentic dalils which prove the barakah throught the urine of the Prophet.
Is this hadith sahih ?
‘the Prophet SAW used to have a wooden bowl in which he used to urinate and place under His bed. One night, He searched for it but did not find it and asked for it saying, where is the bowl? The members of the house replied ‘Umm Salamah’s slave girl Barrah drank it’ who came from Habashah with her. The Prophet replied, ‘surely she has protected herself from the fire with a great wall’.
Is the urine generally pure ? Or is it specific to the Prophet ?

I dont know about ahadith, but from medicine it is know that human urine is sterile. If you have an open wound, and there is no clean water or anticeptics, it is advised to urinate ito the wound, to remove dirt from it.

could someone summarise the ahlalhdeeth thread in shaa Allaah? or refer us to something to read about in english? i found the ahlalhdeeth thread a bit confusing due to my lack of understanding in the sciences of hadeeth etc. i'd really like to know the correct ruling regarding this issue as there's a controversy regarding it in the arab world due to ali goma'a's fatwa (http://208.109.248.104/article.aspx?ArticleID=61772).

I dont know about ahadith, but from medicine it is know that human urine is sterile.
Only if a person has a healthy urinary tract, and even then it is not uncommon to find traces of bacteria in the urine of the healthy person. Once out of the body, urine quickly gets full of bacteria that dissolve uric acid realising ammonia, which creates the unpleasant smell. Many diseases can be transferred by urine.
If you have an open wound, and there is no clean water or anticeptics, it is advised to urinate ito the wound, to remove dirt from it.
Don't try this!
And also don't drink it, substances it contains are poisonous in high concentrations. It contains byproducts of protein metabolism, as well as urobillin, derivate of billirubin. You don't want those in your body.

My Arabic sucks, but you'll get the gist, insha Allah:
Question: What is the level [of authenticity] of the story of Umm Ayman's [?] drinking of the urine of the Prophet [sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam] and of the story of Ibn az-Zubair's driking of his blood [sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam]?
...and after translating that, I was put off by all the takhreej :)

Umm Ayman [?] is the kunya of two women, one of them being Baraka al Habashiyyah, the mawlaa [slave girl?] of the Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam)- and the other being the mawlaa of Abi Sufyan, who used to serve Umm Habiba, the wife of the Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam). She (i.e. the second 'mawlaa) was also known by the kunya Umm Yusuf. Athar on the drinking of the urine of the Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) have been transmitted by both women.

The story of the drinking of the urine of the Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) from Umm Ayman the mawlaa of the Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) has been narrated by al-Haakim, Daraqutni, Tabarani, Abu Na'im in his Hilya, AbdurRazzaq in his Musannaf...something about a wording [?] to the narration from the hadith of Abi Maalik anNakha'i from alAswad b. Qays b. Nabih alAnazi from Umm Ayman. [As for] alAswad b. Qays, he didn't reach Umm Ayman [lam yudrik- is the chain disrupted?], and Abu Maalik is Dha'if al-hadith.

The story of the drinking of the urine of the Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) [as] narrated by Umm Ayman, the mawlaa of Abi Sufyan has been narrated by AbdurRazzaq, Daraqutni, Abu Dawud, alHaakim, Abu Dharr al-Harawi, and in it is that the Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said to her 'Saha' [good health? Or 'you did well' or what?] Umm Yusuf. And in it's chain is a majhula [unknown woman] called Hakima, and so this athar is not authentic [laa yasih] also [?], despite the fact the Daraqutni implies its authenticity and the tajwid [?!] of its chain, and this is not accepted from Daraqutni- rahimahullah- ... [something I couldn't get].

After butchering the translation of this passage, my respect for the scholars of hadith, and even for competent speakers of Arabic has increased. I tried to leave as much of the terminology in Arabic as possible, and show where I was uncertain. Any hadith scholars out there are probably tearing out their hair at this poor attempt :)
Abuz Zubair, can you correct the translation?

btw it seems as though the author said 'Umm Ayman' where he should have said the other woman's name......I think.

Can you not translate word for word and just give a one sentence conclusion: is it authentic/reliable Hadith or not? Yes or no will do!

btw don't take this conclusion as 100%: it is weak, Allahu a'lam
