Asalamualaikum

Pardon my ignorance if the question is stupid but I was wondering if there is a collection of the verses of the Quran that is organized according to when the verses were revealed and also refers to the situation in which they were revelaed?

Better yet, is there a seerah that soley focuses on presenting the life of the Prophet (saw) with the intention to only highlight what verses came, when, and under what circumstances?

I hope that the question is clear.

Any links or books suggested would be helpful.

The reason I ask this is because I was just reflecting how great it would be to read a seerah of the Prophet (saw) and view soley through the lens of revelation of the quran. Not only could that possibly add insight to the seerah and quran, but also it would give us the closest possible experience of being there at specific situations at the time when the verses of the Quran were revealed.

I know that I haven't come across it but I am sure there is something like that in arabic and if not, then my guess is that it would be a fantastic project in the future.

While we do not know when all the verses came and under what circumstances definitively, I believe we do have knowledge for a lot of verses and their time and place. So even a collection of what we do know would be amazing.

Please let me know if you know of any sources in this regard.

Assalamualaikum brother, You can look at the following books, Inshallah they may help you with your research:

1. Muqdimat al Assa'sia fe Ulum ul Quran of Abdullah Yusuf Judai, it has a good section on Asbab ul Nuzul.

2. Asbab ul Nuzul of Abi hasan ali bin ahmed al Wahidi , try to find a copy with a good tahqeeq.

3.al u'jab fel Asbab of Ibn Hajar al Asqalani ( Have not seen it, but i know Ulamaa have refered to it)

4. Lubab al Nuqul fe Asbab ul Nuzul of Suyuti, again try to find this with a tahqeeq.

5. Saheeh Musnad min Asbab ul Nuzul of Muqbil bin Hadi, the author has attempted an analysis of the relevant hadith , however one must bare in mind it was written just at the end of his studies at the University of Medinah, therefore it is from his early works and the checking of some narrations are in need of further investigation. Allah swt knows best

6. As Seerah As Saheehah of Akram Diyaa al Umari, his introduction maybe of interest to you, however the book itself is very useful.

Allah swt knows best
