View Full Version : Hey, HT! Trial of the Grave is in the Qur'an!

As-salamu alaykum. A few years ago, as a young student of HT, I used to be told that ahad narrations were doubtful and we used to laugh at those "Wahabis" who used to believe in the Sunnah with sincerity and conviction. They also used to say there were just a few doubtful narrations about the Trial of the Grave. Of course, there is a lot of nonsense in all these beliefs of HT: ahad narrations are not doubtful, the narrations about Trial of the Grave are mutawatir but one thing I never even realised back then were all the ayaat in the Qur'an about Trial of the Grave - I guess we HT acolytes never really bothered to study the Quran and even now, they don't study the Quran in their private halaqahs.
So here are some of those ayaat:
surah:
40:46
6:93
23:100
89:30
Try reading them and their tafsir, HTites.

Regarding 40:46 the HT say that thsi is regarding the punshment of hellfire being tangibl. This is contrary to what has been repoted egarding this ayah from ahl sunnah from the time of the sahaba(Raa).
When this ayah is cited to them they say that it is not qati'e dalalah(decisive in Meaning). So how did they use it for 'aqeedah? (Shaksiyyah volume 1)
?!?!?!!?!?

As-salamu alaykum. Of course, this is one of many ayaat about the POTG but I'd like to ask the Hizbis how else is it possible to interpret ayah 40:46 and is there any mufassir who offers this alternative interpretation?

yes there are some shi'a who offer a similar response as did the great expert of grammer al-Farra' however it has been noted he turned towards itizal i.e. mu'tazilaism cf 'Manhaj fil 'aqeedah Imaam ash-Shawkani, from Al-Firhist of Ibn Nadim.
From my colection of over 100 tafaseer of this verse all the scholars from ahl sunnah confirmed what the sahaba(Raa) confirmed regarding this verse. I think the pathetic arguments brough to try refute this verse are just a ploy to stay away from the truth. May ALLAH Ta'ala guide us all and protect us from this jahiliyyah! Ameen!

part 1 of a small brief list of references which show ithbaat of 'adhabul qabr from 40:46 innsha'ALLAH Ta'ala. Thats all for now, more to come later innsha'ALLAH! But if you add all the names up so far (Excluding repetitions) then I think we can see how not only the people of Ahl Sunnah wal Jamm'ah hold this vese as a fundamental qati'e proof for 'adhabul qabr but also other from the modernists, mu'tazilah, shi'a and others! I would like to add that my research is limited as there are many more references that I have not been able to look at properly and list here even thought they do refer this verse to 'adhabul qabr nor have I had time to search more extensively and I am more than certain that this list of names and references from the time of the sahaba(Raa) to present day can just keep growing and growing. Wa ALLAHU A'lam.
I am however more than convinced that this verse is a clear verse for 'adhabul qabr. Unlike many people today who have given me the most stupidest expanations to get out of saying this verse is for 'adhabul qabr due to Hizbiyyah and that is the sole reason for what they say. Shame on them.
Woh to the deniers of the truth!
I ask all muslims including myself to be sincere in acepting the truth and to reject whatever their amir or leaders or 'shaykhs' and 'murshid' tell them in opposition to what the sahaba(Raa) and salaf after them have brought.
