suggestions for sadaqa

Asalamualaykum,

I need some suggestions as to which are the best places to donate sadaqa to,is giving to masjids or madrasas better? or is paying for a well,or giving to the poor?

What I need suggestions for is continuous sadaqa which will continue to be of benefit (inshaAllah)after I am long gone.

Is it better to donate in the country of residence (uk)or better to send money back to country of parents origin(pakistan).

Please brothers and sisters put forward your suggestions jazakAllah khair.

Good question... my honest advice bro, everyone gives money to mosques, etc... Yet, there are also other important projects that collapse due to lack of funds.

I heard Muslim Women's Helpline collapsed - after 15-20 yrs, due to lack of funding.

I would strongly suggest that you fund Cageprisoners (http://www.cageprisoners.com/campaigns.php?id=378)... Who knows, you personally might need them in the long run.

JazakAllah khai for the suggesions a few more would be good though.

I have decided to donate to a severel different places.I think the reason why most people donate to mosques and madrasas is because they believe the reward will be continuous so long as people continue to perform ibadah in those places ie if one gives money to help build a mosque then one will continue to get rewarded (inshaAllah)as long as people continue to perform acts of ibadah in that mosque.

Anyway I will take the above suggestions in to consideration when I make my final decision as to exactly which places I will be donating to.

You could consider sponsoring an orphan, insha’Allah…

Sahl ibn Sa’d radhiyAllahu ‘anhu reported that the Prophet sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said: “I and the one who sponsors an orphan will be like this in Paradise,” and he gestured with his index and middle fingers (al-Bukhari).
