Salaams,

In jumuah today the imam told a story about a couple who got married, and about how the man was told prior to the marriage that the woman he is getting married to is blind, deaf and dumb etc...but it came about after marriage that she COULD see, speak etc..but she could only do that which was halaal, as opposed to haraam.

It concluded by saying that they ended up being the parents of Imam Abu Hanifah RA.

I only caught the last part of the story...Have been trying to search for it on google but to no avail.

Could someone please explain the story, or post a link to where it is in full pls?

JazaakAllah khair!

as far as i remember, the story was that there was a poor pious man who was really hungry and needed some food, so one day he was near an apple tree and he was unsure whether to take an apple or not. in the end he took an apple and ate it. afterwards he was feeling too guilty, that he went to the owner and told him about what he did. the owner of the apple tree said that he'd forgive him if he married his daughter who was deaf, dumb and blind. because the man eagerly wanted to be forgiven and he knew that this would be something he'd be questioned about on the day of judgment, he accepted the man's offer. when he entered upon his wife, he found her to be the most beautiful woman. it turns out that she was "deaf" because she didn't listen to wrong/bad things. she was "blind" because she didnt look at bad things, and im not sure about the dumb part but i know that she didnt walk to bad things or something like that. and if im not mistaken, this story was connected to abu haneefah's (rah) parents. wallaahu a'lam.

may Allaah swt forgive me for any mistakes i narrated above, aameen.

"If it were not for the chain of narration people would say whatever they want..."

This sin't the most important story ever, however....Maybe true, but let the narrators bring the source otherwise it can be rejected.

Imam Abu Hanifa doesn't need such tales for his Imamate to be proven. His Imamate in deen does not need proof.
