Na'am, more came to Islam after the establishment of the state at Mahdinah than before, including most of the Ansar, and the Message of Muhammad (sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam) reached to other tribes beside the Quraysh.

The best way to determine the number of Muslims at that time comes from an examination of the Battle of Badr. The Muslim army was made up of between 300-317 men; 82-86 Muhajirun, 61 Aws and 170 Khazraj. (Safi-ur-Rahman Mubarakpuri, Ar-Raheeq Al-Makhtum, Riyadh: Dar-us-Salam, 1995, p. 210).

So obviously the establishment of the state more than doubled the ranks of the Muslims, although some of Khazraj came to Islam during the Aqabah Pledge, before the Hijrah.

By the time of Hudabiyah (6AH), the numbers of the Muslims reached into several thousands. The greatest turning points for Islam occurred with the Treaty of Hudabiyah, when the Muslims were now able to preach the message of Tawheed freely, and the conquest of Makkah, after which vast numbers of people entered Islam throughout the Peninsula. Then during the Khulafah ar-Rashidun, the Da'wah spread outside Arabia and the Ummah was created through these firm bonds of Tawheed.

And Allah (Subhanahu wa-Ta'ala) knows best.

When Allah's aid and victory comes. You will see the people enter into Islam in droves.

This is Allah's Sunna.
