In the Essential Fiqh book, it says that he studied at Umm al-Qura University in Makkah and also studied at Madinah University.
However in the book, "Are the sayings of the Sahabah a source of evidence in Islam?", in the introduction it says:
He then joined the Shari’ah Institute at Damascus University where he studied Fiqh and Shari’ah. Having completed his studies, obtaining a BA in Shari’ah and Usul al-Fiqh, he proceeded to Al-Azhar, Beirut where he began his studies in Shar’iah transferring to Al-Azhar, Cairo for completion. He obtained his MA in Fiqh ul-Madhaahib from the
Imaam Uzaie University, Lebanon. In the early eighties, Sheikh Omar then moved to Saudi Arabia, where he joined the Madrassah Al-Saltiyyah studying and completing a Diploma in Jami’ Al-Qur’an. During this time he also completed a thesis entitled, ‘Nizaam al-Khilafah fil Islaam’.

well, according to omarbakri.info (http://www.omarbakri.info/index.php?cmd=2&path=Profiles/Profile%20Sheikh%20Omar%20Bakri%20Muhammad.htm&hd_elm=2) it says this:
From the age of five he was enrolled into Al-Kutaab Islamic School to study Islam.
By the age of 12 he had memorized the Qur’aan. And by the age of 18 he memorized the text of Saheeh Al-Bukhaari (not including isnaad, ‘chain of transmission’).
During his early adulthood, the Sheikh continued his Shari'ah studies through musaahabah (companionship) with several scholars of Bilaad ush-Shaam (scholars from Syria, Lebanon and Palestine). He studied Shari’ah, e.g. Usool ud-Deen (Fundamentals of Islam), Usool ul-Fiqh and Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence).
don't forget, this is the same site in which fatwas end by:
Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammad
Judge of The Shari’ah Court of the UK

He is a liar, but not from the Khawarij.

Nay rather he is a khariji from the pure khawarij. His ghuloo is known. His sunnism is highly doubted.

With all due respect akhi, it is only your ghuloo which is known, became apparent with that statement.
"Pure Khawarij" ?!? what is that exactly? What is the difference between pure khawarijism and any other type? We should watch our statements and be just with regards to hose who we like and dont like.
At most it could be said he has some traits of the khawarij...he has a whole set of other issues with which we can disagree with him.

He is a khariji call it ghuloo on my part or whatever you like. He is not from ahluh ilm rather he is a takfiri. He is the same fool who made takfir upon shaykh allaamah ibn baz rahimullah. He also called shaykh muhammad ibn Saalih al-uthaymeen a hypocrite (may Allaah have mercy upon Shaykh ibn uthaymeen).
His ilm is very limited. He could not even answer properly who he studied with rather he only mentioned he has read some books. Wow perhaps im a shaykh with his credentials!

Not denying his other problems.
There is a difference between a "Takfiri" and a Kharijee.
