View Full Version : Anyone here studied at a Saudi school such as Medinah Uni, Umm al-Qura, etc?

One of the requirements to get accepted to these schools is to have a Tazkiyyah from a scholar well-known to the school (which really means a well-known Salafi scholar). I'm having problems getting a Tazkiyyah from a Salafi scholar, since I never had formal Islamic education; a lot of non-Salafi scholars could vouch for my character, but I just haven't come across any Salafi scholars in real life.
Anyways, how can I rectify this problem of finding me a Tazkiyyah?

Theres a Madinah bro on this forum lurking around, he made a post about entry. However 5 years should not have passed since you passed your GCSE exams.

No, I don't live in the UK. :( But thanks!

I don't know what GCSE is. I studied in the American system. If this is equivalent of high school, then that would mean I'm screwed.
Having said that, I know someone who goes to University of Medinah who graduated from medical school and then applied to the school, more than six years after graduating high school. He got accepted when he was 25 years old and started there when he was 26.

Does anyone happen to know Shaykh Abdur Rahman Dimashqia??? What about Shaykh Dr. Salih as Salih???? I really want to get into contact with them. They are involved in the Sunni-Shia 'dialogue', which is really what I wish to specialize in. These two Salafi scholars specialize in that, and I think if I got in contact with them, they would Insha-Allah write my a letter of recommendation.
So does anyone how to get in contact with either of these two scholars?

akhi, maybe you can try asking in Multaqa ahl alhadith
it is a forum for students of knowledge and shaikhs, very popular arabic forum , and few months ago they opened an English section.
maybe you can post a topic there asking about these 2 shaikhs, their might be members there who know these shaikhs or at least know Sh. Abdur Rahman Dimashqiyah.
or can help you register at Madinah University.
here is the English section of the forum

I have this same problem, I am applying to Madeenah University...and I cannot get a Salafi scholar to vouch for me, as in my city there aren't any. And non-Salafi scholars that know of me refuse to because of the whole "salafi" thing. I live in the UK, so any advice?

I'm wondering if I just get a non-Salafi scholar to write it for me? I wonder if I would get black-listed for this...

why would they accept a non Salfi scholar?
one with corrupted aqeedah?
not that I know if they do or not, but I highly doubt it, especially if they are really corrupt in their aqeedah.
akhi, did you try to ask in Multaqa ahl al hadith, which I posted the link for it in my previous post?
or try to contract shaikh Waleed Basyouni, a Saudi salafi shaikh, he posts in al maghrib forums, in the section he teaches (look at the names of teachers under each section), maybe you can try to pm him, although I don't know if he knows how to us pm or not, since he is new to forums, if he doesn't reply to it, then maybe he didn't figure it out.
maybe you can also post a topic in maghrib forums asking in general if anyone can help you on this.
if it is allowed there, I dont' think it will harm to try.

If you are doing Medicine, you can forget about Madinah. You have to be younger then 25 for admission for Degree.

You have to be 25 or younger, and I will be 25 when I apply Insha-Allah. My cousin also graduated from the same medical school and he was also the exact same age as me when he applied and got accepted there. He was 25 when he applied to Medinah University and 26 when he started there.
