Need info on these figures
Yahya bin Mu'aath ar-Raazi
Abu Sulaimaan Ad-Daaraanee (abdur rahmaan bin ahmad or abdur rahmaan bin atiyyah)
Dr. salih qouting him as being
born around 140/758 A great Imaam and the great zaahid of his times. He related from sufyaan ath-thawree and others. A "sufi" who died in the year 215/831 or 205/821. (See Tahtheeb Siyar Alaam An-Nubalaa by Imaam ath-Thahabee, vol. 1, number 1592)
Abu Ali Ath-Thaqafee is muhammad bin abd al wahaab an-Naisapoori. He was an imaam in most of the Islaamic disciplines, muhaddith, faqeeh and an admonisher. According to ash-Sharaanee he bandoned most of his knowledge and engaged in sufi knowledge. He died in 328/940) Tahtheeb siyar alaam an nubalaa vol.2 number 2996)
Abu Ali Ad-Daqqaq is al hasan bin ali bin muhammad bin ishaaq bin abdur raheem bin ahmad, a zaahid sufi who excelled in fiqh, islaamic fundamentals, and arabic language.
The reason why i want to know more information is because ibnul qayyim rahimullah qouted these individuals in dispraise of al hawwa and they are considered sufis. I want to know which sufism they were upon.
Dr. salih as salih when commenting on Yahya bin muaath ar raazi said 'He is considered a sufi in the context of the early practices of sufism in which some of its followers were mostly interested in lading a pious life of zuhd. , patience, clemency, sincereity, truthfullness, etc.. Over all they were close to the teachings of the Quraan and sunnah although some of them exaggarated and or introduced innovated forms of worship and concepts (see majmoo Fatawaa shaykh ul islaam ibn taymiyyah 10:366-367) and ibnul jawzee in talbees iblees p156)
I just want to know of their exact sufism. As in did they follow a tariqa? Give bayah to a shaykh to guide them in affairs? Did they claim to experiance seeing the nabi salalahu alayhi wa salam while awake (as Imaam Suyuti claims ) and other such things.
The reason why is i hear a lot of times and such as from adh dhahabi that if one shows emnity towards a sufi they fall in the category in the hadith of the people who make war against the friends of Allaah, yet many times i see and hear all these slanders of sufis (sufis like haqqani and others like him i understand).
So i wish to learn more information on this. inshaallaah.
