:!: More than 308,000 Chechen civilians have been killed in a ''slow genocide'' that has lasted for a decade.

In an exclusive interview with Aljazeera.net on Monday, Chechnya's deputy foreign minister in exile said more than 28% of the population had died in a country that only had a population of just over a million.

Usman Ferzaouli added it was hard to understand the world's silence about "a genocide that has killed over a quarter of all the Chechen people".

"Stalin may have been brutal, but at least he didn't kill us like the 150,000 Russian troops currently stationed in Chechnya – 'policing' a nation of well under 710,000."

Ferzaouli made the comment at the start of a two-day visit to Qatar.

His first official duty was to pay his respects to the widow of Salim Khan Yandarbiyev – the former Chechen president who died last February when a bomb ripped through his car after Friday prayers.

A widow’s testimony

Yandarbiyev’s widow, Malika, told Aljazeera.net Russia's public assassination of her husband should ring alarm bells in Europe.

"Stalin may have been brutal, but at least he didn't kill us like the 150,000 Russian troops currently stationed in Chechnya – 'policing' a nation of well under 710,000"

Usman Ferzaouli
Chechen diplomat

"If the Russians can get away with this in Qatar, then surely the UK and Denmark should consider the possibility of car bombs killing Chechen representatives in the streets of London or Copenhagen.

"My husband's only 'crime' was to not back down on total independence. He never condoned any form of terrorism – especially the attacks in Moscow - but supported a legitimate struggle against a colonial power."

Malika condemned Moscow's branding of the Chechen struggle as 'terrorism' – pointing out that the Russian army has killed thousands of women and children.

Her own 12-year-old son, Dawud, was in the car when the bomb went off. He has lost hearing in one ear and still has shrapnel around his left eye and in his right leg.

Private visit

The late Yandarbiyev, just two
months before he was killed

After visiting Yandarbiyev’s grave, the deputy foreign minister said he appreciated the way Qatar was dealing with the assassination and was confident that justice would be done.

Two GRU Russian security advisers have been arrested in connection with the assassination.

Ferzaouli also carried a letter for Qatar’s amir, Hamad Al-Thani, from Chechen diplomat Ahmad Zakayev to thank Doha for its efforts in dealing with "Russian state-sponsored terrorism".

Integrity and vision

The deputy minister had known the former Chechen president for more than 15 years and had always been "impressed by his integrity and vision".

"Yandarbiyev was a great man. He was probably the main personality in the drive for Chechen independence.

"Though he made no public interviews in the year before his death – his only crime was to express his opinion that our country should be free.

"On the few diplomatic missions he engaged in over the last three years, his only message to Islamic and Western countries was 'even if you won’t help us, at least don’t be against us'."

Hi, I was born Russian. It is interesting how Satan works... at first I was angry at you for saying this (since I saw what happened with Beslan) and started writing a rather hateful post. I now see that this is exactly what Satan would want and decided to modify my post several times. You see, I finally understood that you have a problem and that you cannot be helped by any means other than one thing...This one thing that can help you is coming to Jesus Christ and asking him in your heart. It is not very hard and doesn't take a long time at all.

By coming to Jesus you will have gained several things...First of all, Christianity is not a hateful religion at all, and we do not condone the killing of anyone at all, so you won't have to be so centered on this. Second of all, you will have gained peace and you will literally stop feeling so hateful. Trust me, I know this from experience. Third of all, you will be finally able to feel at peace with yourself regarding "choosing the right religion." I understand that Satan might have clouded your mind, so I will remember to pray for you.

Heavenly father, I ask that you show the way to this young gentlemen. You can see all and you know that his heart is firm at believing something which he doesn't understand yet. I ask that you help him come to you and help him stop wrestling against you.

In the name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen

"Hi, I was born Russian. It is interesting how Satan works"
you can say that again !!!

found_one, 30% of the chechen population have been killed by the russians, you like that sort of thing dont you? admit it you love it when muslims are killed but hate it when muslims give you a taste of your own medicine. perhaps your the one with the problem lamenting what happened in beslan but saying nothing about the genocide the ethnic cleansing of chechniya by the russians.

killing 30% of a population is far far worse than any act of media hyped terrorism

"First of all, Christianity is not a hateful religion at all, and we do not condone the killing of anyone at all" really then how do you explain the crusades?*

and as for jesus did he not say "go not in the way of the gentiles" meaning his message was for his own community and not for other races.

"I understand that Satan might have clouded your mind" we muslims believe that satan is a creation of allah like all other creation but christians believe that he satan is the opposite or equal to God the Father. its like satan came about on his own accord to challenge God the father therfore it is you who has been clouded and confused by satan becos you have acknowledged satan as the opposite of God as the challenger to God as a force to reckon with that could possibly overthrow God - this is the belief of christianity which they preach in church and make movies out of. you give satan far too much importance. therefore it is you who have duped by satan

"you will have gained peace and you will literally stop feeling so hateful. Trust me, I know this from experience." jesus must have failed you for it didnt stop you from bieng hateful, scornful and rude towards me elswhere on this forum.

"By coming to Jesus you will have gained several things:" let me guess free food free medicine free money. i am sorry but i cannot be bribed! only iliterate poor farmers can you hope to convert.

we believe jesus son of mary peace be upon him was born miraculously his mother was a chaste and saintly woman that he is*a prophet of allah and by allah's leave he performed many miracles his first miracle*was that he spoke on behalf of his mother while only a few days old, glory be to allah! and allah sent him as a warner to his people with the "Evangel" (injeel) and that he did not die on the cross and that he will return and put an end to christianity!

our beliefs concerning jesus:

jesus is not God

he is not the son of god

he did not die for anyones sins

he did not die on the cross

he was not resurrected

he did not say worship me

the bible is not the word of God
