AsalamuAlaikum,
I'm new to this forum, I apologize if I make a mistake or offend.
I'm want to dedicate this summer by examining the Shafi'i madhab. I'm choosing this madhab because being originally from a region that practise this madhab I want to investigate it for myself and see if it's 'right' for me.
What are your thoughts?
Desperately seeking correct knowledge!!!!
WaAlaikumSalaam
P.S. pls help, I'm a sister in need!!!
P.S.S. refrain from using a lot of names a newly practising muslim would not know!!!

there is nothing wrong with it, why wouldn't it be incorrect? Why would it be wrong to dedicate the summer studying Shaf`i madhab? Studying usool-fiqh from madhabs, is nothing wrong with, good thing.
I myself am search for a teacher who is qualified to teach hanafi fiqh and hanbalite fiqh to me. But I haven't found anyone yet.

There is nothing wrong with this insha'allah, since you have an open mind as you said "I want to investigate it for myself and see if it's 'right' for me". If you see evidence that some of the teachings are against Quraan and Sunnah, you should follow the correct evidence at that point. There is absoloutely no obligation on you to keep "sticking" to that Madhhab if you are sure the evidence on the other side is stronger. Remember, these Madhahib are a means of understanding and practicing the religion, NOT religions in themselves.
Happy journey insha'allah.

JazakAllahkhayran for the replies.
I understand what y'all have said but it's just dishearten when you ask someone if their Muslim and they reply,' Yes, I'm hanafi.'
