as-Salamu `Alaykum

I'm trying to work out how much money I need for stationary, clothes, food, my phone bill, transport etc.

I'm going to be studying in Birmingham. I won't be paying utility bills and food at home will be free Inshaa Allaah.

How much money do you think I need for 9 months?

Any assitance would be appreciated.

I've just lived in Birmingham and studied there

Transport on bus will cost u £105 for a term pass (3 months), so for 9 months you'll require about £300 for transport.

Phone bill: Depends which tariff you go for, how much minutes you need etc. Average is around £15 a month. This could all be FREE however if you go on a cashback deal.

Stationary: Coupla quid

Clothes: Depends how fashionable you are. In Birmingham there's loads of shops in the city centre itself which are dead cheap. And then there's the expensive ones as well. Youre gonna need to buy yourself some cosmetics and all that too cause ure a girl.

Food: Meal at lunch time, again depends on what you go for. Food is generally much cheaper in brum. If you go for a baguette can cost about £2.50 (go Baguette Du Monde and buy a crab salad baguette.. it's tasty! And only £1.65). Max you're looking to spend for lunch is about a fiver. Then in the evenings you eat at home. If you wanna be extra cheap just make some egg sandwiches from home and take em.

So you can do the maths and get a rough idea what it's gonna come to. Just add a grand or two on top for other things.

And to increase your bank balance you can get a job in Asda
