I can see why someone might think its to do with the bnp.
Maybe trying to get people to think that muslims are overtakng the capital.

Br. Waziri yes it's something the BNP would be happy to see. It would suit their agenda perfectly.

Well.. I am trying to give a message...
how do you interpret that message?
Abandoned-Mind

Message... "It ain't gonna work".. "Mojo idealism"....
is what I get

Interpret it however you may :)
You used the words Londistan over the union jack which makes me think of a Pakistani Britain with a hint of English (because of the classical English font/style of writing)
So I interpret it to be Pakistanis taking over Britain
Abul-Fadl

Abuz Zubair
30th June 2007, 05:20 PM
Pakistan?!?! What made you think of that?
Pak isn't the only country with 'istan' in it. There is Uzbek, Tajik, Afghan etc... they all have 'istan'. But, 'istan' in West has become a symbol for Islam.
Anyway... your conclusion isn't accurate.
And the same goes for you Abul-Fadl :)

oh ok i got it now.
"its cool to say im british" like how way less people than some years ago are ashamed to actually admit they have lost connections with the motherland, and are in fact just as or even more british than dave the postman.

Well I had heard someone once say Bradistan referring to Bradford so I assumed that they called it that because Bradford is a bit like a mini Pakistan
I didn’t realize that 'istan' is the symbol for islaam in the west

I dont think there is any one accurate answer, everyone will interpret in a way they see as being correct.
So what you intended maybe what it means to you but not what it means or not what others make of it.

erm... not exactly...
I dont think there is any one accurate answer, everyone will interpret in a way they see as being correct.
I guess this makes it a good work of art!
So what you intended maybe what it means to you but not what it means or not what others make of it.
This is why I find it interesting to see how different people look at one picture yet think so differently.

is this connected to the cultural phenomenon of 'cool brittania' of which multiculturalism is an intergral part of?

I think what Abuz-Zubayr is trying to get at is the "coolness" of people like Umar Bakri and the other stereotypical representatives in the press of "Londonistan".
http://timesnews.typepad.com/news/images/bakri.jpg
Quite trendy, don't you think?
Abuz Zubair

Anything to do with the fact that 81% of British Muslims feel:
Muslim First, British Second. Cant remember where i heard this. Also something about the youth wanting Shariah in London/Britain...?
Abuz Zubair
30th June 2007, 08:59 PM

Well I had similar thought in mind.
You mostly likely see some freshy dude waving that Flag around.
Hint of Pakistan in it, with the "istan" on the end.
No offence bro Abuz zubair but to go & make a flag like that is no way cool.
Just don't make a hobby out of it. :D

Let me throw my lot in
I think it symbolizes the 'in thing' these days on 2 different levels:
1. From the viewpoint of the media: the Islamicization of Western society, symbolized by London and the Union Jack. It is scaremongering and giving us far more credit than we deserve - talk about shariah finance in mainstream banks, niqabs in court, eid in trafalgar square, etc as well as it being viewed, rightly or wrongly, as the heart of the jihad movement have resulted in Londonistan.
2. From the viewpoint of Muslim youth: It is cool now to be a Muslim as it was in the past to be a gangsta rapper or don your suit and pretend youre part of the mafia. The war on terror has ironically brought many of our youth back to Islam if only because they initially see it as a rebelliosu identity. Therefore it is "cool".
Am I close or have i just wasted the last few minutes waffling nonsensically?

That the British public/govt feel that British Muslims are accomodated for more than other ethnic minorities. And that London is coming under siege from "British Al-Qaeedah" radicals.
Abuz Zubair

Can it be taken to mean: The growth of Islam and development of Muslim communities in Britain does not necessarily mean that it cannot exist in harmony with traditional British values, and contribute to its progression in the future?
(Btw, I think something like this would be good in the 'Have Your Say' section on the homepage. It would be interesting to see how this image and others are interpreted by non-Muslims readers).

Asalaamu 'alaikum,
A call for integration, it does not matter where you are originally from except Britain as your home and hold the values of the indigenous people. Your beliefs are personal to you and should not impact the wider society. Be British and proud, it’s cool.

To use that font it makes me think of def leopard or some heavy metal group, maybe a cd cover of their new handbanging noise? Singing about satans desire to take over virgin records and Yusef Islam is fighting satan so thets all make magic and stick out our tongues like snakes?
