Well... its just a parody of Imagine, but I guess it shows that halal music with Western melodies and Islamic lyrics is achievable.

Lol! Im sorry but thats just irritating. I couldn't stop thinking of John Lennon. Plus, im against the idea of nicking western tunes.

Salams to all, Why cant we be original? We are good at re-inventing the wheel, if my comment seems a bit harsh i am not sorry just fed up!

Yes... I agree... we should be original. But I wouldn't call this song a 'copy', re-inventing the wheel, etc. I would call it a parody (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parody).

But would something like that be good if it was original? I mean, would it or would it not be better than Sami Yusuf and other rubbish?

Sami Yusuf and other rubbish?

LOL not a fan then bro? Honestly they make me cringe. When their likes are on Islam channel the mute button comes handy

Well... the question is... do you connect more with something like what's posted here, or Sami Yusuf? Or Yusuf Islam even?

Personally none of them but Yusuf Islam has to be the best example. Probably because i remember him igniting this scene... or maybe i wasnt looking before.

Anything against Yusuf Islam?

Not really... Some of Yusuf's Islams songs before conversion were nice, such as Father and Son, etc...

But 'A is for Allah' and that kind of stuff simply isn't something that the youth could appreciate. Now, unfortunately, he's gone back to instruments.

But even if Yusuf Islam were to sing Nasheeds like his old songs, and lyrics that are powerful, wouldn't it be much nicer?

I haven't heard Sami Yusuf much, but once I had the unpleasant experience of finding out what he's about, and it was basically full blow Egyptian music.

Not only the words we cannot relate to, but even the style of Music (and he claims to be British and proud!) - not to mention the haram instruments.

Anyone else moved by the footage of Sayyid Qutb?

im stuck with "imagine" in my head, in pakistan they got "naats" that use the melodies from bollywood tunes, personally i find them irritating and the fact that you have to listen to a haram tune in the first place to get the tune must be an issue??
