Alhamdulillah, I have been here just under 2 months and the experience has been positive.

Yes, the South Koreans are largely kuffar, they mock the believers as do all of the kufaar, but I can honestly say they are helpful when you talk to them.

More importantly they are not physically hostile e.g. they don't go Paki-bashing.

The school I work for, the staff there are friendly and polite. South Koreans imitate the west and I would say they have an inferiority complex e.g. west is best etc.

I'm going to try and list the main points about this place so far:

1) Muslims are left alone here, no locking up of innocent people without charge due to being a suspected terrorist.

2) Wherever you walk in public, you don't have to worry about treading in a piece of dog mess, which makes life less stressful.

3) Alhamdulillah, the weather is warm here, it's nice.

4) There is virtually no crime here, no rapes/murders/muggings/asbo kids/stabbings etc. It is a very safe place to live.

5) I can't think of many places in the world which offer such a generous package e.g. free furnished accommodation, airfare paid both ways, working 8.40-4.40pm only 5 days a week, no weekend working, and tax free pay for the first 2 years you work here.

6) If you live sensibly, you could save at least 5000 pounds in a year.

7) You only need a degree and be a native English speaker to get a job here.

8) Not knowing Korean isn't good, but it's not a problem. It would be better to know the language though.

9) Public transport e.g. trains are clean and efficient.

10) Alhamdulillah, they don't have earthquakes here like in Japan.

11) South Koreans are like redneck cousins of Japan. They are like plebs who have made money but lack some manners.

12) However, they are very helpful. I went to a shop to buy a fan. They assembled it for me in the shop and delivered me and the fan to my house, for free!

13) The youth here try to be westernized e.g. loud and disrespectful.

14) I may be getting married. There is a Korean woman who converted to Islam and she is considering getting married to me. I hope it is successful, inshallah. Please make dua for me.

I must confess, some Korean women are extremely beautiful, but they show a lot of flesh, which is off putting.

Korean food also smells and tastes awful. That's my opinion.

15) All regular western foods I have in the U.K. are available here, the local supermarket says tesco on the side, so tesco have their shops here too.

16) Halal food is readily available in Seoul, 30 mins from where I live, in Bucheon. There is a big Masjid there, and Muslim stores nearby.

17) South Koreans eat a lot of khanzeer and they like their drink.

Lastly, as I said before, any brothers who are interested in working in South Korea, please let me know.

I am glad I came here.

assalaam o alaykum akhi,

Very informative akhi, what aboutMasjid? any masjid or scholars?

What about the neighbours? i.,e. the 3rd part from the axis of evil? North Korea?

well, there's a massive Masjid in Seoul. Scholars, I don't know of any.

N. Korea, that is separate to S. Korea. S. Korea is the pro-western bit.

My brother/sisters in Islam, if you are a graduate and want a fairly easy, relatively stress-free job, with free apartment, tax free salary and a high standard of living, please consider working in South Korea, teaching English.

You have to be from an English speaking country e.g. U.K., U.S.A., Canada etc.

This is not a scam etc. If I or other Muslims knew about this opportunity, I'm sure more would do this.

Best of all, there is no harrassment of Muslims over terrorism issues. It's safe, but some Koreans can be xenophobic toward all foreigners.

Think about it, if like me you can't get a good job in the U.K.
