<font face="Times New Roman" size="3">Brothers i wanted to talk to all my sunna brothers <u>OR</u> anyone who says that shia are Kafirs and deserve to die. Now think about what that word kafir means. kafir means someone who does not believe in Allah al kareem, the most generous. We pray 5 times a day, we read the Quran, we fast, we give zakat. </font></p>
<font face="Times New Roman" size="3">Some of you brtohers say that we worship graves. which is absolutly forbidden to come up with such nonsense. When we visit the imams we*******pray to bless them NOT to pray to them we pray to ALLAH and ONLY ALLAH!!!! Just as in any funeral of a dear muslim, everyone reads the fataha to bless them. Now for the Imams (AS) they are the closest to the Prophet Muhammed Peace be upon him and his gracious family. Imam Ali(AS) is prohet Muhammed's(pbuh)cousin and the husband of Fatimat az-zahra(AS)the lady of all ladies. Now ask yourself why did the prohet Muhammed(pbuh) give his honorable daughter to Imam Ali(AS) and not to anyone else? Prophet Muhammed(pbuh)nows the best for his precious daughter. Now for the guy who said that Imam Ali(AS) was a coward when omar squeezed Fatima az- Zahra between the door and the wall and killed her baby Muhsin. Imam Ali and all the Imams put Islam first before them and their families. If Ali were to reply with violence against omar there will be muslim bloodshed and Allah certainly does not want that. So please brothers dont talk nonsense and say that Shia are followers of shatan and worship graves and are rafidha. Dont say this complete nonsense unless you research your facts well . </font></p>

Wa alaikumusalam akhi.
No one is criticising Ali (RA), he was one of the 4 rightly guided khalifs and quite frankly was a better muslim than any of us could ever be.
Brother, can you tell me what your understanding is of the differences between the sunnis and shi'ites? I do not wish to cause an argument here, please understand that. But I do wish to learn, because some shias (like those at shiachat) seem to spend 90% of their time slagging off the sahabah, and I want to know if this is representative of shi'ism or not?

As Salam Walaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,</p>
******* Bismillahir Ar Rahman Ar Rahim,</p>
Why are the Shias regarded as Kafirs???</p>
<p align="justify"><font face="Verdana" size="2">Shiaism (The Rafidah)</font> <font face="Verdana" size="2">and Islam are indeed different religions. <font class="txtSmall">This sect has developed into what we now know as the Shia whose beliefs and thoughts are repugnant beyond belief.</font> The divergence of Shiaism from Islaam can be summarized from the books which they consider most authentic, and the statements of their most respected scholars. Some of the proofs are available on this page Most of the Muslim UMMAH and Western scholars have very little genuine and reliable knowledge of SHIA beliefs and practices. However, most of the openly declared SHIA beliefs revolve around The Concept of Imamah (how_to_approach_the_shia_brother.htm), the superiority of Ali (May Allah be pleased with him), and the so-called love of the Prophet's family members. As a result, the intense love that Sunni Muslims carry for the Prophet's family members combined with the magnanimous personality of Ali has led some Sunnis to accept Shia's as part of the Muslim UMMAH.</font> </p><p align="justify"><font face="Verdana" size="2">However, the brutal fact remains that under the pretense of Ali's Superiority and the so-called love of the Prophet's family members, Shias have literally evolved an entirely new religion, grossly distorted the teachings of the Holy Qur'ân, and completely rejected the sanctity and authenticity of the Hadeeth. They have elevated the sayings of their imams to the level of the Prophet's sayings and have classified them as Hadeeth. For all practical purposes, they reject the most authentic sayings of the Prophet (Peace be upon him) and Base their religion on the so-called Hadeeth attributed to their Imaams. By doing so they have rejected one of the most fundamental principles of Islam: The law can only be derived from the sayings and actions of the Prophet (Peace be upon him), not any other human being.</font> </p><p align="justify"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" color="#003300" size="2">The </font><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Saba'iyyah</font><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" color="#003300" size="2">, a sect of the Rawafid, emerged in the time of `Ali and told `Ali he was God. `Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) burned some of them to death as a result. Later, the Rawafid split into many groups like: </font><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"><font color="#003300">The Zaydis, Imamis, Kaysaniyyas, Qaddahiyyas******* and Exaggerators (Ghullat).</font></font><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" color="#003300" size="2"> Some people asked Imam Zayd ibn `Ali to disavow Abu Bakr and `Umar. He would not do so, and some people refused his decision, and deserted him, thereby becoming known as Rawafid, which means : the Refusers, the Rejecters. Those who stayed with him became known as the Zaydis, and so they are technically not of the Rawafid. The exaggerators are not Muslims, </font><font face="Verdana" size="2">these Raaf<u>i</u>di (Shia) actually descend from Abu Lu'luah Majoosi (a Persian fire worshipper) and Abdullaah ibn Saba' (a Jew). However they are more dangerous from the Christians themselves. Christians fight Islaam face to face (if they did) while Rafidiyah stab Islam from its back they have lot of Absurdities in their beliefs like Badah, Rajah, Mutah, Taqiyyah, etc</font></p><p align="justify"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" color="#003300" size="2">The Zaydis, Imamis and exaggerators split up further, with each group accusing the other of kufr. The Zaydis split into three groups: Jarudis, Sulaymanis and Butris. They all agreed on the leadership of Imam Zayd ibn `Ali ibn al-Husayn when he revolted at the time of Hisham ibn `Abdul-Malik. They are the closest of the Shiah to Ahlus-Sunnah; they merely maintain that `Ali had more right to the Caliphate, but they do not claim that he was explicitly appointed as Caliph by the Prophet (may Allah bless him and his Household and grant them peace), and hence they accept the Caliphates of Abu Bakr, `Umar and `Uthman. The Kisanis split into two groups: one claimed that Muhammad ibn Hanafiyyah, a son of `Ali, is still alive and that he is the Mahdi; the other group say he died and passed on the leadership.</font></p><p align="justify"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" color="#003300" size="2">The Imamis and exaggerators split into fifteen groups, among which are the Ja`faris/Ithna `Asharis (Twelvers) and the Isma`ilis. The exaggerators claimed divinity for their Imams, permitted all sorts of haram things, and in short dismissed the obligations of shari`ah.</font></p><p align="justify"><font face="Verdana" size="2">Below we have more then 100 Articles exposing Shia's using their own books and writings with detailed sources so that they don't deny it. <font color="#990000" size="2">These references are copied from the religious books of Shiite religion. While translating them we have asked forgiveness of Allah many times, for, these are very much annoying for any Muslim to read. Neither I personally wish anyone to have them but to save the innocent simple Muslims from the Shiites (Raafidah) it was necessary to write them and forward them to our fellow Muslims so that they can know the real terrifying beliefs of Shiites. </font>Additionally I have also listed some articles about Ismailism and the Agakhanis; one of the more deviant groups within the Shia religion they <font class="txtSmall">are an offshoot of the Raafidah (Shiah) and share some of their characteristics. Aga Khan is their supreme leader and, in their view, has characteristics and attributes similar to those of Allaah.</font> </font></p><p align="justify"><font face="Verdana" size="2">And Lastly The Prophet(SA) said: "Whoever abuses my Companions, upon them is the curse of Allah, the Angles and all the people" <font color="#000080">(Saheeh, At-Tabaranee)</font></font></p><p align="justify"><font color="#000080" size="2"></font></p><p align="justify"><font color="#000080" size="2">More Coming Soon Insaallaah.......</font></p>

<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">*******</font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff"><u><font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #00cc66">This is a Brief History brother of Shia:</font></u>*******Shi'ism began with a reference made for the first time to the partisans of Ali (shi'ah-i ' Ali)</i />, the first leader of the Household of the Prophet, during the lifetime of the Prophet himself. The course of the first manifestation and the later growth of Islam during the twenty-three years of prophecy brought about many conditions which necessitated the appearance of a group such as the Shi'ites among the companions of the Prophet. </font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">********************************************************************** The Holy Prophet during the first days of his prophecy, when according to the text of the Quran he was commanded to invite his closer relatives to come to his religion, told them clearly that whoever would be the first to accept his invitation would become his successor and inheritor. Ali was the first to step forth and embrace Islam. The Prophet accepted Ali's submission to the faith and thus fulfilled his promise. </font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">************************************************* From the Shi'ite point of view it appears as unlikely that the leader of a movement, during the first days of his activity, should introduce to strangers one of his associates as his successor and deputy but not introduce him to his completely loyal and devout aides and friends. Nor does it appear likely that such a leader should accept someone as his deputy and successor and introduce him to others as such, but then throughout his life and religious call deprive his deputy of his duties as deputy, disregard the respect due to his position as successor, and refuse to make any distinctions between him and others. </font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">************************************************* The Prophet, according to many unquestioned and completely authenticated hadiths, both Sunni and Shi'ite, clearly asserted that Ali was preserved from error and sin in his actions and sayings. Whatever he said and did was in perfect conformity with the teachings of religion and he was the most knowledgeable of men in matters pertaining to the Islamic sciences and injunctions. </font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">************************************************* During the period of prophecy Ali performed valuable services and made remarkable sacrifices. When the infidels of Mecca decided to kill the Prophet and surrounded his house, the Holy Prophet decided to emigrate to Medina. He said to Ali, "Will you sleep in my bed at night so that they will think that I am asleep and I will be secure from being pursued by them?" Ali accepted this dangerous assignment with open arms. This has been recounted in different histories and collections of hadith. (The emigration from Mecca to Medina marks the date of origin of the Islamic calendar, known as the hijrah</i />.) </font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">*************************************************************** Ali also served by fighting in the battles of Badr, Uhud, Khaybar, Khandaq, and Hunayn in which the victories achieved with his aid were such that if Ali had not been present the enemy would most likely have uprooted Islam and the Muslims, as is recounted in the usual histories, lives of the Prophet, and collections of hadith.</font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">******************************************************** For Shi'ites, the central evidence of Ali's legitimacy as successor to the Prophet is the event of Ghadir Khumm when the Prophet chose Ali to the "general guardianship" (walayat-i 'ammah)</i /> of the people and made Ali, like himself, their "guardian" (wali)</i />. </font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">******************************************************** It is obvious that because of such distinctive services and recognition, because of Ali's special virtues which were acclaimed by all, and because of the great love the Prophet showed for him, some of the companions of the Prophet who knew Ali well, and who were champions of virtue and truth, came to love him. They assembled around Ali and followed him to such an extent that many others began to consider their love for him excessive and a few perhaps also became jealous of him. Besides all these elements, we see in many sayings of the Prophet reference to the "shi'ah of Ali" and the "shi'ah of the Household of the Prophet." </font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">*******</font></p>
<u><font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #33ccff">The Cause of the Separation of the</i /> </font></u></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff"><u><font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #33ccff">*******Shi'ite Minority from the Sunni Majority.</font></u></i /> </font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">The friends and followers of Ali believed that after death of the Prophet the caliphate and religious authority (marja'iyat-i 'ilmi)</i /> belonged to Ali. This belief came from their consideration of Ali's position and station in relation to the Prophet, his relation to the chosen among the companions, as well as his relation to Muslims in general. </font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">****************************<font color="#33cc66">******* </font>It was only the events that occurred during the few days of the Prophet's final illness that indicated that there was opposition to their view. Contrary to their expectation, at the very moment when the Prophet died and his body lay still unburied, while his household and a few companions were occupied with providing for his burial and funeral service, the friends and followers of Ali received news of the activity of another group who had gone to the mosque where the community was gathered faced with this sudden loss of their leader. </font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">******************************************************** This group, which was later to form the majority, set forth in great haste to select a caliph for the Muslims with the aim of ensuring the welfare of the community and solving its immediate problems. They did this without consulting the Household of the Prophet, his relatives or many of his friends, who were busy with the funeral, and without providing them with the least information. Thus Ali and his companions were presented with a fait accompli</i />. </font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">*************************************************************** Ali and his friends - such as 'Abbas, Zubayr, Salman, Abu Dharr, Miqdad and 'Ammar - after finishing with the burial of the body of the Prophet became aware of the proceedings by which the caliph had been selected. They protested against the act of choosing the caliph by consultation or election, and also against those who were responsible for carrying it out. They even presented their own proofs and arguments, but the answer they received was that the welfare of the Muslims was at stake and the solution lay in what had been done. </font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">******************************************************** It was this protest and criticism which separated from the majority the minority that were following Ali and made his followers known to society as the "partisans" or "shi'ah" of Ali. The caliphate of the time was anxious to guard against this appellation being given to the Shi'ite minority and thus to have Muslim society divided into sections comprised of a majority and a minority. The supporters of the caliph considered the caliphate to be a matter of the consensus of the community (ijma')</i /> and called those who objected the "opponents of allegiance." They claimed that the Shi'ah stood, therefore, opposed to Muslim society. Sometimes the Shi'ah were given other pejorative and degrading names. </font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">******************************************************** Shi'ism was condemned from the first moment because of the political situation of the time and thus it could not accomplish anything through mere political protest. Ali, in order to safeguard the well-being of Islam and of the Muslims, and also because of lack of sufficient political and military power, did not endeavor to begin an uprising against the existing political order, which would have been of a bloody nature. </font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">************************************************* Yet those who protested against the established caliphate refused to surrender to the majority in certain questions of faith and continued to hold that the succession to the Prophet and religious authority belonged by right to Ali. They believed that all spiritual and religious matters should be referred to him and invited people to become his followers. </font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">*******</font></p>
<u><font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">The Two Problems of Succession and</i /> </font></u></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff"><u>*******Authority in Religious Sciences</u></i /> </font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">In accordance with the Islamic teachings which form its basis, Shi'ism believed that the most important question facing Islamic society was the elucidation and clarification of Islamic teachings and the tenets of the religious sciences. Only after such clarifications were made could the application of these teachings to the social order be considered. </font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">****************************************** In other words, Shi'ism believed that, before all else, members of society should be able to gain a true vision of the world and of men based on the real nature of things. Only then could they know and perform their duties as human beings - in which lay their real welfare - even if the performance of these religious duties were to be against their desires. After carrying out this first step a religious government should preserve and execute real Islamic order in society in such a way that man would worship none other than God, would possess personal and social freedom to the extent possible, and would benefit from true personal and social justice. </font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff"><font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">************************************************* These two ends could be accomplished only by a person who was inerrant and protected by God from having faults. Otherwise people could become rulers or religious authorities who would not be free from the possibility of distortion of thought or the committing of treachery in the duties placed upon their shoulders. Were this to happen, the just and freedom-giving rule of Islam could gradually be converted to dictatorial rule and a completely autocratic government. Moreover, the pure religious teachings could become, as can be seen in the case of certain other religions, the victims of change and distortion in the hands of selfish scholars given to the satisfaction of their carnal desires.</font> </font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">*******</font><font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">****************************************** As confirmed by the Holy Prophet, Ali followed perfectly and completely the Book of God and the tradition of the Prophet in both words and deeds. As Shi'ism sees it, if, as the majority say, only the Quraysh opposed the rightful caliphate of Ali, then that majority should have answered the Quraysh by asserting what was right. They should have quelled all opposition to the right cause in the same way that they fought against the group who refused to pay the religious tax (zakat)</i />. The majority should not have remained indifferent to what was right for fear of the opposition of the Quraysh. </font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">*************************************************************** What prevented the Shi'ah from accepting the elective method of choosing the caliphate by the people was the fear of the unwholesome consequences that might result from it: fear of possible corruption in Islamic government and of the destruction of the solid basis for the sublime religious sciences. As it happened, later events in Islamic history confirmed this fear (or prediction), with the result that the Shi'ites became ever firmer in their belief. </font></p>
<font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff"><font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">*************************************************************** During the earliest years, however, because of the small number of its followers, Shi'ism appeared outwardly to have been absorbed into the majority, although privately it continued to insist on acquiring the Islamic sciences from the Household of the Prophet and to invite people to its cause. At the same time, in order to preserve the power of Islam and safeguard its progress, Shi'ism did not display any open opposition to the rest of Islamic society. Members of the Shi'ite community even fought hand in hand with the Sunni majority in holy wars (jihad)</i /> and participated in public affairs. Ali himself guided the Sunni majority in the interest of the whole Islam whenever such action was necessary.</font>**************************** <u><font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #33ccff">Brother to learn about*******the true origins of shia go to:"*******www.imamalinet.net</font></u>********************* </font></p>

Hassan I am proud of you that you spoke up for this like you should Have
I do not call any shia's a kaafir.
This is the problem in Islam now-a-days..we are not united..we are seperated into tribes, groups, and so on WHICH IS WRONG
So what if one believes that Hazrat Ali should have been the first Khalifa? ..I think suni's and Shia's SHOULD work together, like we used too.
Shiaism existed along time ago, but them Sunni's and Shia's still worked together, as brothers and sisters, Hazrat Ali didnt kill Sunni's neither did Hazrat Abu Bakar kill shia's...So y should WE call some1 kaafir.

an interesting story:
in the time of abu hanifah there were a group of shias sitting in the masjid. when abu hanifah arrived and saw them he took of his sandles and carried them with him instead of putting them on the shoe rack.
later the shias asked abu hanifah,
"abu hanifah why did you take your sandles off and take them with you"
he replied "in the time of the rasool the shias used to steal the shoes of the sunnis"
to which the shias replied "but abu hanifah there were no shias in the time of the rasool"
exactly my point said abu hanifah shiaism is a newly invented matter and every newly invented matter is in the hellfire"
need i say more?

"I think suni's and Shia's SHOULD work together, like we used too" a historical example would help here?
"Hazrat Ali didnt kill Sunni's" Infact Hazrat Ali he killed a lot of shias especially the ones who claimed that ali was allah! he ordered a ditch to be dug and had the shias thrown in and had lit up like a bonfire and while they were burning alive the shias were screaming see we told you he was allah becos only allah punishes with fire!
"neither did Hazrat Abu Bakar kill shia's" i think he would have if only they (shias) had been around at the time - but bieng a newly invented matter they had not been invented yet!
we know that abu bakr was prepared to go to war against those who refused to pay the zakah then its highly probable that any shia insurrection during his rule would have been put down brutally.

Interesting points by both sides. Seriously though, we do need to start working together. Muslims are being killed and tormented left right and centre, while we are too busy with internal fighting. We are like 'foam on the waves' as the Prophet (SAW) said. Why? Because we are divided.
Perhaps if we understood each other and worked together Allah would shower His mercy on us and enable us to fight back against the agressors. It seems Iran is the only one really sticking two fingers up at the kuffar (so to speak). Every other 'Muslim' state's rulers are too busy sucking up to bush and his allies. If all muslims put aside their differences and formed a united front wouldnt we be in a much better position?
i'm not saying well its fine to be a shia or whatever, of course we should still spread the message of the ahlus sunnah amongst our brothers, but we really do need to stop the petty squabbling and be one body. The jews have done it, and despite the muslims easily outnumbering them, because of their unity they got us owned, man.

This is from a thread on Shiachat:
Bukhari has recorded in the chapter "What happened in the houses of the Prophet's wives" in the book "Jihad and Travel" of his Sahih, vol. 2, p. 125, that while delivering an address from the pulpit, the Holy Prophet pointed towards Aisha's house and said: "Here lies the scandal; here lies the scandal; here lies the scandal, where the horn of Shaytan would be rising." In the words of Sahih Muslim: "The Prophet came out of the house of A-isha and remarked: "Here is the head of infidelity where the horn of Shaytan will rise." Refer to Sahih Muslim, vol. 2,0.502
Lets hear it for the anti hadeeth brigade.....
If the Prophet referred to Ayesha this way, how can you reconcile her being your "mother"?
I dont know whats more sickening- these hadeeths, or people who defend those that the Prophet openly tarnished.
They'll tell you now that they don't take Bukhair's words into consideration because it's not Sahih
If the Prophet has slandered his own wife in such a way- how can she be "mother" to a believer?
Hardly role model judging by that hadeeth-
Look at this fabricated ahadith! And the way they talk about Hadrat Aishah! The horn of shaytan hadith was the Prophet pointing towards najd and the fitnah that will (and now also has) arisen from there! Subhanallah, tampering with the Prophet's (SAW) actions and slandering his beloved wife! Astagfirullah.

Do noy such sentiments as these make you feel ashamed of some of your fellow shias:
Br you bring up a point which can be debatable among Shias.
We beleive in disassociating ourselves from the Enemies of the Ahlul Bayt AS. We want no part with them.
Why do we send Curses on Muawaiyah and Yazid? The same reason we disassociate ourselves from Umar, Usmaan and Abu Bakr.
Yazid and Muawiyah portrayed their hatred towards the Ahlul Bayt AS, and even in some cases admitted it.
However, Abu Bakr, Umar and Usmaan were a tad bit different. They knew in their hearts what was wrong. They knew the merits of Fatima AS. They knew what happend at Ghadeer. Etc..
Abu Bakr admitted his mistakes on his deathbed. There is a Hadith stating that he regretted two things in his lifetime. One of them being Arguing over Fadak. I will try and locate this for you.
Umar had no right to tear up the agreement that Abu Bakr and Fatima AS had reached. It is a well known fact that Abu Bakr agreed to give Fadak Back To Fatima AS.
Who was the one who went against the Caliphe at this time? The Caliphe of the time had made a decision, who was Umar to rip up the agreement?
Fatima AS was obivously upset due to this. Remember every Sahabi knew that when Fatima AS is hurt Rasool SAW is hurt etc..
Fatima AS was hurt. By whom? Umar and Abu Bakr.
If you look at what happend to Fadak after this incident you will clearly see that it is directly Umar and Abu Bakrs' fault.
Enemies of the Ahlul Bayt, May Allah SWT curse you.
Wa'salaam
Asad Ali.
"Enemies of the Ahlul Bayt, May Allah SWT curse you."
Rather, may the curse of Allah fall on those who slander his beloved servants, those sahabah who have attained glad tidings of Paradise, the faithful servants of Allah, not even the most pious of muslims can attain as high a rank as them, may Allah give them peace, may Allah shower His infinite mercy upon them, fill their graves with nur AMIN!!!

it should also be noted that the vast majority if not all iraqi police and military are rafidah they have been perpatrating heinous crimes against the sunnis in iraq since the jihad began after the fall of saddam.
*however in the northern regions the police and military are overwhelmingly communist kurds who are israels best freinds at the moment.
The Badr Organization originally the Badr Brigade is the armed wing of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq.
Headed by Hadi Al-Amiri it participated in the 2005 Iraqi election as part of the United Iraqi Alliance coalition.
Based in and around Karbala it effectively rules that city and other parts of southern Iraq.
It has played a leading role in fighting insurgents (sunni jihadis) there.
The brigade was based in Iran for two decades during the rule of Saddam Hussein It consisted of several thousand Iraqi exiles, refugees, and defectors who fought alongside Iran in the Iran-Iraq War.
Returning to Iraq following the 2003 coalition invasion the group changed its name from brigade to organization. It has pledged to give up its arms when the security situation is resolved.
While the organization has lessened the burden on coalition troops there have also been tensions between the two. There have been reports of gun battles between the organization and British troops that are occupying the area. (racialist violence between allies)
The militia has been involved in several incidents of kidnapping, beating and torturing of Sunni Iraqis, and is accused by many of being a sectarian militia.

with secterian violence on the rise in iraq, the shite badr brigades and the mahdi army have shown their strenght in numbers and the organised violence they are capable of. not only are the badr brigades and the mahdi army the largest sectarian militia their surplus members form the bulk of the iraqi police and military.
while in the commision of the police and military they not only represent US interests but also the interests of their ayatollahs to whom they remain loyal to. this is no dilemma for them since the US and the shite clerics have common cause against the sunni led jihad.
to date the badr brigades have not offered any resistance whatsoever to the US led coalition this is a slap in the face to their supposed 'islamic' status, instead they have been busy perpatrating a genocide against the sunni minority as if the US hadnt done a good enough job.
their collaboration with the US and their ideological links to iran and their crimes against sunnis by government sanctioned shite death squads (interior ministry police) sparked a spate of reprisals by alqaeda, who would otherwise be busy harrassing US forces.

iraq's interior ministry police are at the centre of the death squad controversy. they are or were members of the shite badr brigades and the mahdi army. they are trained and equipped by the US to fight the sunni led insurgency.

the shia mahdi army are easily recognizable in their black uniforms. some of those who were out in force protesting the bombing of their grave worshipping shrine said:
"The Takfiris (sunni-jihadis) have destroyed our holy shrine in Samarra"
"I am going to go and burn the Abu Hanifa mosque"
"they (sunni-jihadis) are outside the fold of islam"
these are sentiments shared by all shias wether in iraq or outside. the 'protesters' run amok in sunni neighbourhoods vandalising 100's of masjids and killing belivers.
it is ironic that shias can claim to be islamic whilst supporting the US and fighting on its behalf

Faik Bakir, the director of the Baghdad morgue, has fled Iraq in fear of his life after reporting that more than 7,000 people have been killed by death squads in recent months, the outgoing head of the UN human rights office in Iraq has disclosed.
"The vast majority of bodies showed signs of summary execution - many with their hands tied behind their back. Some showed evidence of torture, with arms and leg joints broken by electric drills," said John Pace, the Maltese UN official.
The killings had been happening long before the bloodshed after last week's bombing of the Shia shrine in Samarra.
Mr Pace, whose contract in Iraq ended last month, said many killings were carried out by Shia militias linked to the industry ministry run by Bayan Jabr, a leading figure in the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (Sciri).
Mr Pace said records, supported by photographs, came from Baghdad's forensic institute, which passed them to the UN. The Baghdad morgue has been receiving 700 or more bodies a month. The figures peaked at 1,100 last July - many showing signs of torture.
Reports of government-sponsored death squads have sparked fear among many prominent Iraqis, prompting a rise in the number leaving the country. Mr Pace said the morgue's director had received death threats after he reported the murders. "He's out of the country now," said Mr Pace, adding that the attribution of the killings to government-linked militias did not come from Dr Bakir.
"There are other sources for that. Some militias are integrated with the police and wear police uniforms," he said. "The Badr brigade [Sciri's armed wing] are in the police and are mainly the ones doing the killing. They're the most notorious."
Some Iraqis accuse the Mahdi army militia, linked to the radical cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, of seizing and killing people.
