Assalamu Alaikum brothers,

Just wanted to know who will be attending The Dawah Conference this year in Leicester, organised by Jimas? I want to meet you guys! Place names to faces. I know I'm not that regular a poster, but still, it would be nice to see who the other members are in Person. I already know Abu Zubair, and Abu Umar (the mod), but would also like to know others. If you want, PM me and maybe we can exchange mobile phone numbers Insha'Allah.

I look forward to it Insha'Allah

Wa Jazzkum Allahu Khairan

Well to the best of my knowledge, Sister Khola Hasan is related to Shaykh Suhaib Hasan, I think she is his daughter - I could be wrong, but I know for definite she is a relative of his.

How does Jimas justify a woman standing exposed in front of hundreds of non-mahram men, 'speaking'? How does Abu Aliyah justify this through his 'Hanbalism' ?

Umm

You can't really say that it is haram. The sahaabiyat used to interact with the men and even advise them sometimes. I think a balance needs to be reached though. I only think it's necessary say in the case of a detainee's wife describing her 1st-hand experience. If it's a general da'wah talk, why can't the men do it?

Khola Hasan is Sheikh Suhaib's daughter.

She's not going to be standing exposed in front of hundreds of non mahram men though, she's going to speak from the sisters lecture hall.

Is it necessary for the sister to address an audience of both men and women?

Wil we be treated to another episode of abu muntasir crying offering his life in place of the 7/7 victims?

Assalamu Alaikum,

It is sad that Muslims like to disrespect each other so much. Abu Muntasir might not be perfect, no one is, but the work that he has done in the Muslim community in the past 23 years, has had long lasting effects for the Muslims in the west. Most groups and organisations today which promote Aqeedah Salafiyyah, can trace their roots, however new or old they are, back to the dawah work of Abu Muntasir and Jimas over the years, even if they brand him as being deviant and dodgey, which I don't believe he is, you can't change history! Put simply, the work he has done for the Muslims, many of the members on this forum could not do in a lifetime, so maybe a little less of the sarcastic comments and put downs..why not advise him, rather than making comments on a forum!

Asslamu alaikum...

Brother i agree with what you have said about brother Abu Muntasir, and his past. However can a man be respected on past deeds? should we continue to praise him for the amazing work of the past (when the kuffar didnt pressure him) if now he collaborates with the kuffar? Should we still hold him in high esteem if he now is causing confusion amongst bro's and sis's? he may mean well, he may never have changed his stance.....but why go to extremes of sufism to prove he doesnt supprt our strggling brothers? as for asking him, plz ask him this weekend......many have tried, even brothers close to him, and then plzzzzzzzzzzzz share his answer with us on tues.

A conference on our 'fragile Earth'? What a complete waste of time. It would have been more useful if the entire thing had been devoted to the subject of unicorns.

Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahee wa Barakatu

There is nothing wrong with a sister giving a lecture etc. as long she wears niqaab if she stands in front or as long she is in the back or in a different room. The voice of the woman is not awrah.

The jimslips as we used to call them at university have lost a lot of thier steam, I saw brother Abu crying when in was giving a talk in 2005 about 9/11 very different from his talk at university in 1999..Has this group done a complete U turn? Is it a case of when it gets too hot lets all run out of the kitchen and find somewhere cooler to chill?

Remember Allah did say; you will surely be tested;!!!!!!!!!!!

Whatever the case sine 9/11 I feel their conference still provides a lot of benefit, I still know of nonpracticing people going and starting to pray and wear khimar and jilbab after the conference...as far as I know there is nothing comparable in the UK.No one has stepped up and successfully done something similar.

But I wanted to know what actually happened at the conference? Come on people was it that uneventful?

salaam brother it's a fair point I personally go to such conferences to learn something new or meet old friends and the atmosphere is very islamic.
